Fred and edelweiss

So it’s well know that Fred loves flowers, but in his old character bio it said one of his loves is specifically edelweiss. Now I had never heard of it and decided to look into it. Here’s a picture.

Now I got curious after finding this out. Is there a reason for this? And I have a subtle theory. So for one, the meaning of edelweiss very clearly connects to Fred. It means love, strength, bravery, and patriotism. All things that Fred clearly show. But it’s ALSO the national flower of Austria and Switzerland. It is grown mostly in the Alps (also in those countries if you didn’t know) favoring cold harsh climates compared to warm and humid ones. Now what if this explains where Fred is from? We don’t know his backstory, but what if he likes edelweiss because he grew up in Austria or Switzerland, where the flower is literally THE symbol of the country, and more specifically in the alps where it grows. That would also explain his signature scarf, which he would have to be wearing constantly in such cold weather. How he joined the Moriarty group I’m not sure, but considering they have a member from Germany already (which neighbors Austria) perhaps Von herder and Fred are connected in some way? Oh well, that’s my theory and explanation.
