Atlas
Atlas is an open world type game where you rise and lower the ground to solve puzzles and find treasures
I like the games colour palette and how the ground looks while it rises when the character uses its ability or the enemies attack
The game doesn’t have much that separate’s it from other games about from its ground rising gimmick

youtube
At Harry Pottor world there is a large model of hogwarts they would you for flyover shots
The castle has great detail even in the small places you wouldn’t see from walking around it in the video but would only been for brief moments during a flying shot
After doing some research I found out that it took 86 people to create the castle and during production the castle was enhanced with digital effects to make it look more realistic

Low Ploy Games
Superhot
Morphite
Astroneer
I looked at some low poly games, the only one out of these that I am familiar with is Superhot. It’s super low poly graphics really work well with the gameplay as when you kill someone or break something in the game they shatter into pieces which would feel unnatural if everything was realistic looking.
As for the other two games I know nothing about other than the screen shots of seen, Morphite and Astroneer are a bit more suttle with their low poly style which makes me think it was for time and budget restrictions unlike Superhot which embraced its low poly count.
The games still look good though Astoneer specifically looks more detailed and is actually quite eye catching

High Poly
Phil Nguyen
Phil Nguyen creates detailed high poly character models for video games such work includes God of War (PS4) and Tom Clancy’s: Ghost Recon.I like Phil’s characters detail and I’ve personally played some of the games he’s worked on so I know that the characters still look good when talking running or fighting
Cornelius Dämmrich
Christian Behrendt
Cornelius and Christian create focus on high model environments instead of characters. Out of the two I would say I prefer Cornelius because I feel his has a bigger range of the type of environments he makes Christian’s work feels a lot more samy

Low Poly
Low-poly uses textures to determine pixels sizes this primarily used for game models.
A noticeable similarity between low poly models is that they look rigid like they are made of rock, the models are very rarely smooth looking and the ones that are have more poly’s then the rest.
I’d define low poly as limited, easily workable and stylised

Process of making your digital bottle.
Before we started making the inside of our bottles we made a mood board of what we are going to put in it
I had two main ideas both relating to my Islands my first idea was going to put moose parts in my bottle the second was to put in an important resource like food, water or medicine
I decided to pick the resource idea purely because I didn’t want to make moose parts
I picked to do medicine out of my important resources so far that I had to make pills and tablets. The pills were easy since there was a capsule shape to use
But the tablets were slightly harder I had to make a cylinder, make it short then add a rectangular divot by a of course making a thin retangle then making it boolean and placing it in the cylinder
Then I added a white texture to it and a red and yellow one to the pill, I deputed it them and spread them around the inside of my bottle
After putting in a liquid texture on the inside of the bottle to make it look like it was floating I put up walls and a floor for the global lighting and renderd it

Star Wars - George Lucas merchandising, quality and Hasbro
George Lucas is the creator of Star Wars and owner of merchandise as Fox didn’t want to run that side of the franchise, George however did
George worked to together with Hasbro to release some Star Wars action figures that actually sold very well as they were affordable and decent quality. George even managed to pay for two more movies with the money

Netsuke
History
Netsuke are small carvings from 17th - 19th Century Japan, at first they started as simple objects but they changed over time into works of art made by renowned carvers. This change started near the end of the 16th Century, peaking in the 18th Century This continued throughout the 19th Century, but then unfortunately began to fade out
Materials
A lot of materials were used in the creation of Netsukes. Japanese wood was favoured by many people as the type of wood they used was mainly just the ones growing a lot near the artists area. Eg: cherry, boxwood, cypress, ebony, persimmon etc. Ivory was also used a lot for making the sculptures such Ivory includes Elephant and narwhal tusks, sperm whale teeth, walrus and hippo tusks and wild boar teeth. More out there materials consisted of fossilised wood, antlers, coral, and different types of metals
This piece, depicting Chokaro Sennin, is made from Walrus Ivory which is why it has that white and black colouring. Because this Netsuke is based on what I think is a god from my research there was already detailed references the sculptor had available plus as this is presumably an important figure so the model detail and care makes sense
This wooden Netsuke is depicting a Monkey holding a octopus. Apparently this Netsuke is representing a Japanese mythological story where a monkey, which are often portrayed as clever imps, and a octopus, Which is known for its healing powers, meet. Because the Netsuke isn’t that detailed the monkey and Octopus look like they blend together

Label design
Bottle label designs are important as it affects what we think of the product, you’re more likely to buy something if it catches your eye. This is can me done with using type of font or using certain colours
Also showing the the flavour of the drink on the label helps make the customer make their purchases such as putting an orange on a orange flavours drink.
Mascots
Mascots are important to a brand as they make the product more recognisable for example Frosted Flakes would be quite forgettable if they didn’t have Tony the Tiger
As well as Tony other cereal brand mascots I recognise are Toucan Sam and Captain Crunch I be never had Captain Crunch as I’m pretty sure it’s only in American and I’ve only had Froot Loops once when in Australia yet they are both some of the first cereal mascots I think of but I can’t put my finger on why
Fast food mascots are also very Recognisable as Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders are really known everywhere. Even in fictional all worlds have recognisable fast food mascots like lard lad from The Simpsons as he’s shown in every episode intro

Ships in bottles
The first way you could make a ship inside of a bottle is to raise the sails and masts up when the ship is inside the bottle. The masts and sails are built separately and then attached to the ship with strings and hinges so the masts can lie flat against the deck.
The ship is then placed inside the bottle and the masts are pulled up using the strings attached to the masts. The hull of the ship must still be able to fit through the opening.
The second option is to use long tools, and build the ship inside the bottle.
Terrariums
Step 1: Cover the bottom of your terrarium with a layer of small stones or pebbles.
Step 2: Add a very thin layer of activated charcoal.
Step 3: Add a layer of potting soil.
Step 4: Now add your plant(s)
Step 5: After all of your plants are arranged in your glass vessel, complete the look with a layer of pebbles.

Photoshop tools
Opacity & flow can be useful when you are creating lineart / sketching as it means it’ll be easier to see where the lines overlap and make finalising a sketch simpler.
The gradient tool is also useful, it can be used to help create more depth in a background etc...
The mixer brush is extremely useful as it blends colours very effectively in a very visually applealing way.
The smooth tool helps ‘smooth’ your lines so they are more accurate and can be helpful when it comes to circles etc...
