The Grimalkin – Publication Update
Happy Halloween, my ghouls and ghosts and incomprehensible horrors!
I am here to say I officially clicked publish on The Grimalkin. However, KDP has a review period of 72+/- hours so it’s not live yet. Once it is, I’ll be posting links to the listings. Hopefully, that will be my next post!
Until then…

The Grimalkin - Launch Date
I am happy to announce that I have finished editing The Grimalkin and I've completed the bonus story!! Now for the exciting bit...
Tumblr media
The Grimalkin will be published October 31st - Halloween!
It will be available on Amazon in paperback (for £4.99) and eBook (for £0.99) but the illustrations will only be in the paperback version due to formatting limitations.
I warn that it can take a few days for the listings to appear so it likely won't show up when searched. As the author, I think I'm capable of posting links to the pages before then so I'll try to do that on launch day!
Until then...

I also have a publication date in mind to aim for but I’m not going to announce that until I’m more certain it’s achievable.

Announcement!
I’ll be self-publishing The Grimalkin!
It’s the first story I’ve ever written that I’ve really wanted to share, which is why I made this blog. I’ve been working on editing it but ADHD doesn’t like work so it’s taking a while. I hope to have it published by the end of the year, though.
The version of the story that is currently free to read will remain up but for a neater version with extra scenes and maybe even a bonus short story, you’ll want to purchase the published version. Don’t worry, it’ll be cheap (maybe £1 for a digital copy and £2 for a physical one?) I’ll be publishing by Amazon Direct Publishing.
In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of the edits – something I wanted when I first wrote The Grimalkin but didn’t know how to do at the time (who knew my English studies would actually help?) Gotta love an old-timey lore-dropping limerick!
Danger stalks the winter woods,
Enter and forfeit your life, if you should,
A beast so terrible, its eyes a sickening yellow,
As silent as the grave until it bellows,
Beware the Grimalkin, it’s for your own good.
Stay tuned for updates on my progress! I’ll try my best!

The Haunting of Barrington Manor
In 1922, Alicio Rivière is called to Barrington Manor concerning the strange happenings that began plaguing the place since the death of Lady Barrington. He’s unsurprised to discover the culprit is the ghost of the late Lady Barrington’s distant uncle – it was hardly the most unusual thing he’d encountered in his long life. In 2022, Alicio rushes home to celebrate his anniversary with his spectral boyfriend.
The Haunting of Barrington Manor is a short story about the first meeting of Alicio Rivière – a French vampire working as a paranormal investigator – and Jasper Barrington – an Elizabethan ghost who has haunted his family estate for the past several centuries. It then jumps to the modern day and describes how things have changed for the supernatural duo – including their relationship status.
I’m not sure if I’ll write anything for Halloween 2023 so I decided to post my short story from last year. I hope you still enjoy!
WARNINGS for talk of terminal illness and the loss of body parts due to illness.

The Grimalkin
Legend says the Grimalkin is a vicious monster that sleeps until winter when it awakens and stalks the forest, to enter its territory would be to forfeit your life. Deòrsa, a lifelong resident of the local village, knew this but the promise of acceptance by his peers is enough to have him disregard the warnings. A misadventure later and Deòrsa is perplexed to discover the Grimalkin isn’t all he’d thought it was. In fact, they don’t seem much different than him.
The Grimalkin takes place in the Scottish Highlands during the 1600’s and tells the story of a human boy, Deòrsa, as he navigates an evolving relationship with “Grimal” – a cat-sìth (cat fairy). In modern terms, Deòrsa is pansexual and autistic while Grimal is non-binary (they/them).
Pronunciation Guide:
Deòrsa – Dorsa (the Scottish version of George)
Seòras – Shoras (a variant of Deòrsa)
Sìth – shee (means fairy in Gaelic languages)
Grimalkin – gree-mal-kin (from Grey Malkin, an archaic term for a cat)
WARNING for fantasy violence, childbirth, unlawful imprisonment
