For the beginning of the year and especially being 2022 which continues two mostly difficult years, expectations hang in the area of uncertainty. The need for road signs with which to imagine a positive path is pressing. In 2021 many have faced the challenges of change, the erosion of some freedoms, the transition to multipolarity and the like. All this will most likely continue. (...)

President Putin’s speech to the Federation’s diplomatic officials is one of the most important this year. During this period Russia is plotting its diplomatic directions for the future by working on the new “Концепции внешней политики” (Concept for foreign policy). This document provides for an adjustment of the way the Federation relates to the global situation and is from time to time modified to remain current. Together with the National Security Strategy adopted in the summer (The Eurasian Link nr. 5) and certain constitutional provisions form the legislative and strategic backbone of the state. (...)

”Russians have been celebrating their national unity on November 4 every year since 2005. The historical basis for this day is the liberation of Moscow from the occupation of Polish-Lithuanian forces in 1612 at the end of Смутное время (Times of trouble). This year, the main host was Sevastopol, which together with Crimea reunited with the motherland in 2014.”

Hydrogen has become an energy project of the future for the European Union. Proof is also the Romanian NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) in which the construction of a hydrogen transport infrastructure, i.e. pipelines, is specified. The question is who will produce this resource? In all of Eurasia, only one state has at the moment a solid project for the development of a hydrogen industry, it is Russia.

Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, published an article on Tehran Times on 26 October 2021:
”The presence of U.S. troops and their allied forces in Afghanistan, as well as their embarrassing, catastrophic departure, has left in its wake an overwhelmingly disorganized country and an agitated and anguished nation, causing an ambiguous future for a country which suffered military invasion in a modern fashion under the clichéd slogan of democratic development.
In 2002, when U.S. warmongers were recklessly invading our region in their unilateral practice to achieve the so-called globalization under the guise of "war on terror", there were voices which praised the insanity and envisioned a brighter future for the invaded countries. West Asia underwent developments at the time, but the developments were characterized by instability, war, and, indeed, lessons to learn. The state of affairs which has persisted to this day and has permeated the entire region has further fuelled terrorism and extremism, creating an insecure environment prone to tensions and conflict.
This tragic period teaches a lesson to all of us in West Asia, not least to those who continue to pin their hopes on foreign powers. The lesson is the fact that outsourcing security and relying upon domineering powers is a pipe dream and an instable mirage.
This tragic history of Afghanistan's past is reminiscent of the authentic principle that the countries in the region must join forces and respond collectively to their people's questions and expectations and strive to create a more prosperous, secure, and stable environment. This valuable endeavor shall be materialized based not upon an imposed or hackneyed model but upon an indigenous, all-inclusive framework for regional cooperation. (...)”

”A series of events unfolded today, 26 October, regarding a confluence of forces from Region 3 (East Asia) and Region 4 (Middle East). The protagonists are Iran, Pakistan, China and Afghanistan and their efforts are centered on two main directions. First of all there is the desire for mutual cooperation and deepening of ties and secondly there is the Afghan issue.
Chinese president Xi Jinping called on the phone the Prime-Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. The two countries are linked by deep strategic and economic interests. The main materialization of their close partnership is the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which so far has seen a great amount of success in helping and shaping Pakistan’s growth. The discussion was aimed at further developing their strategic partnership in order to address the challenges of the new era in the fields of counter-terrorism and security. The continued growth of their economic and development cooperation was also mentioned.”

”The meeting between State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the acting deputy prime minister of the Taliban's interim government, in Doha on Monday, marks China's first high-level exchange with the new regime.
During the meeting, Wang expressed China's willingness to continue to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and work with the international community to help alleviate its temporary difficulties and realize economic reconstruction and independent development.
As a country that is facing formidable challenges and difficulties after the rushed withdrawal of the United States in August, Afghanistan is in desperate need of support to help it embark on a road of peaceful development and stability.”

In his speech at the 76th UN General Debate, the representative of the United Arab Emirates. Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, launched an attack on Iran mentioning the situation of the islands of Great Tunb (تنب بزر.), Lesser Tunb (تنبوو.) and Abu Musa (ابوموسی). These 3 islands, of which only Abu Musa has a permanent population, are located in the center of the Persian Gulf placed along naval routes.
Historically the 3 territories belonged to the ancient Persian empires of the Sassanids and Parthians but were lost to the Portuguese by the 16th century when the Kingdom of Hormuz was conquered. It particularly owned Abu Musa, the other two islands being of little importance.
The UAE’s accusations, however, were not limited to this territorial issue but continued on other fronts such as Iranian interference in Arab affairs and the issue of nuclear negotiations and those concerning ballistic missiles. The issue of ballistic missiles was not a topic of interest for the “nuclear deal” but the Trump regime has tried to force Iran to give up this technology, something Tehran resolutely refuses. This toxic rhetoric has also been taken up by some states in the region.
The Iranian response came quickly regarding the territorial dispute. Payman Ghadirkhomi, Iranian diplomat and Secretary of Iran at the UN said today, September 28, the following:

(...) Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
On the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, I would like to offer my gratitude to all who endeavored in favor of the elevation of human dignity and contributed to the drafting of the DDPA.
It is regrettable that two decades after the adoption of the DDPA, the world suffers from revived forms of racial discrimination. The murder of George Floyd in Minnesota, along with international outcry against emerging Islamophobia, shows that the international community must identify major obstacles in the way of combating racism and take serious action for its elimination.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, contrary to the former regime’s close ties with certain racist entities, decided to stand alongside the people of South Africa in their noble struggle against Apartheid. That was strongly highlighted and commended during a visit to Iran by the late South African President, Nelson Mandela.
As the new Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I am honored to announce that my Nation’s willpower is dedicated to the total elimination of all forms of racial discrimination, including Apartheid and Zionism. These are crimes that constitute horrible atrocities, such as child killing and the creeping occupation through settlements which extends to the proximity of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Such violations amount to crimes against humanity and only by shared resolve of the international community in cooperation, solidarity and zero-tolerance in combating racial discrimination, can these crimes be countered.
