   he’d been listening the entire time. michael   had invited her down into the basement for   make - shift air hockey & pizza. eventually,    it was tiresome, & they crashed down to have   some heart to heart. which started with, ‘ i saw   this terrible film the other day ’ into this.   but for once, michael didn’t really mind. he’s a    man of action, not one much for words. but    scout as a way or articulating herself & even   her story to entice him into listening. the whole   time ! he nods along when appropriate & on   occasion interrupts for clarification.    ❝ well, ❞ he begins, once her silence falls onto    him, ❝ i think you made the best choice for yourself.   he sounded like an awful person to be around. ❞    michael offers a smile of comfort, ❝ i’m proud of you. ❞

   ❝ you cheated ! ❞ michael throws his controller   to the ground, absolutely in awe to his loss.   he’d been winning for three entire laps, how   could she possibly pull it out of her ass at the   last second ?   of course michael is just bad -- & she’s most   likely not cheated. but it scales into a fight anyway.   ( he’s an athlete, pops, it means he’s competitive. )   it’s come down to ( mostly ) playful pushing. that’s   predictable enough for michael to grab her by the   wrist, both eyebrows furrowed & a disapproving glare.   ❝ i still win, ❞ he’ll say, with his only explanation being   dipping his head low enough to press his lips onto hers.

unpopular opinion?: I find nothing redeeming about cheating plots. nothing. like idk. havjng a character with loyal issues is a lot different than straight up just making a plot that revolves around having them beytray their partner even if they're an npc idk
