For ppl who liked Arcane season 2, is the honeymoon over yet?
Can we agree that S1 and S2 are completely different shows?
That none of the themes carried over between them?
That Piltover did nothing to earn Zaun coming to their rescue in the final battle?
That Viktor's "cure all weakness" shit came out of nowhere?
That understanding any of Jayce's actions post-talking to mageViktor requires a PhD in eyebrow twitches and nonsense?
That Viktor saving baby Jayce was an unambiguous retcon?
That Vi was just a cardboard cutout that Jinx and Caitlyn wrestled over?
That Vander lived and died at least 2 times too many?
That Isha was just a cute pet for Jinx to monologue at?
That Jinx turned from unhinged terrorist to a defanged, quirky jokester?
That Caitlyn's blink and you'll miss it dictator arc changed nothing and there were zero repercussions for it?
That Ambessa became a hypocritical moron whose anti-mage sentiment ate shit and died when she teamed up with robot mage Viktor, who didn't even PRETEND he wasnt going to hivemind her along with everyone else?
That Silco being close to Powder and Vi's mom, knowing them since they were born, only serves to weaken his relationship with Jinx?
That Mel went from a morally complex, savvy politician into a heroic battle mage, (in like 5 mins of screentime) while all other kinds of magic + Hextech were evil and corrupting and had to be destroyed?
That Ekko convinces Jinx that he went to an alternate reality and fell in love with her and she shouldnt kill herself and to become a revolutionary hero(?) OFF SCREEN?
IS THE HONEYMOON OVER YET?

i’m really annoyed by how silco’s character and silco and jinx’s bond has been downplayed and brushed aside by the show, the marketing, the writers, several voice actors, the promotional materials, a major portion of the fandom, etc, but considering the political stance they’ve taken it actually does make sense.
acknowledging the complexity and the good and bad about both vander and silco throws a wrench into the “we should all forgive each other and violence is never the answer :)” narrative that season 2 revolves around. if they showed that vander had his flaws too, and people died under his watch too, it would make it harder to paint him as the ideal father and pacifist that they needed him to be to support the idea that his struggles and downfall stemmed from the continuation of the cycle of violence and a lack of silco’s forgiveness, not piltover. it would make it harder to pretend that every problem could have been solved without any sort of conflict, frame fighting back against piltover as something negative, and act like the right thing to do and the only way for anyone to be a good person was to hold hands with their oppressors.
they can’t acknowledge that even despite his flaws and every terrible thing he did, silco was right to oppose piltover and was more jinx’s parent than anyone else. and they absolutely can’t acknowledge that jinx was right to strike against the council and want to retaliate against piltover. because if they do, the politics fall apart, the messaging falls apart, jinx’s character arc falls apart, vi’s character arc falls apart, the warwick plot falls apart, and every piece of what they tried to paint as the ideal “what could have been” happy ending in the episode 7 au falls apart.
and this is nothing new either. “silco was the root of all evil and everything would be okay if caitlyn and vi had a happy cop love story (which would be devoid of any moral ambiguity because liking flawed characters who stay flawed is scary) and fixed the system from within (which would be easily doable because classism and oppression don’t exist) and jinx went to therapy and went back to being powder and warwick magically went back to being vander so they could all be a happy family :)” has been the prevailing opinion of half of this fandom since 2021. i just wasn’t expecting it from the writers.

Another thing I hated in Season 2 is how often and explicity they call Vander "father". Sometimes it's more powerful to leave things unsaid, especially when they are perfectly understandable already. We know already that Vander (and Silco) were surrogate fathers to Vi and Jinx. You don't have to beat us over the head with it by having them call him father every time and even DAD💀
They did it very sparingly in Season 1 ("he's our father too" and "you're my daughter, I'll never forsake you"). The rest of the time it's left unsaid and packs much more of a punch because of it! Vi and Jinx also never directly refer to the men as "dad" or "father", they only ever call them their names. It's just another way that Season 1 was much more mature than Season 2. It had restraint that Season 2 didn't.

i'm sorry but i can't get over it.
silco FINALLY making his appearance after jinx has been longing for him, and it's when she's at her absolute lowest. when she needs him the MOST.
and it's him telling her that his way was wrong, that the only way to break the cycle of violence is to be able to move forward and choose a better path.
the hallucination wasn't scary, wasn't berating or antagonizing. no scratches. just silco's presence there with her, trying to guide her as he always did but this time he's trying to guide her in the right direction because he (in their strange narrative way through a hallucination) recognizes that he lead her down a dark path by holding onto that anger.
that scene was so special to me sigh.

Silcos ghost watching as Jinx follows the advice her hallucinated version of him gave her and tries to kill herself after he sacrificed Zaun for her + let the mad scientist pump her full of shimmer just to make sure she lives

thinking abt how jinx told sevika she gave silco his injections because "he was a big crybaby and didn't want to do it himself." thinking abt how we know silco has given himself his injections plenty of times without issue. thinking abt how silco took in a little girl who could never do anything right, who could never be trusted with anything important because she'd fuck it up, who was a jinx, and told her "I trust you enough to put this needle in my eye." thinking abt how vulnerable of a position silco put himself in just to make jinx feel safe and loved.

I shipped selfcest before I even knew what it is. They walked so sylki could run 🤌🤌
Do you ship it?
Reasons: Selfcest - Pseudo-incest
Consider reblogging for a larger sample size!
Propaganda under the cut!
Propaganda:
"Practically canon, their audio logs have very romantic undertones, they're always slow dancing together, and they match each other's freak completely. Not to mention they literally tore the universe open to find each other."
Bonus:
"I'm not usually an incest shipper but these guys are just so shippable. And they're basically canon, come on."
And from another submission:
Propaganda:
"YES they absolutely love each other because only they understand each other, they went through a lot and they know what's up"
Bonus:
"Incest for the win"
And from yet another submission:
Propaganda:
"Despite what fans would have people believe, they're not actually related. No. THEY'RE THE EXACT SAME PERSON from different timelines. Rosalind is a strong and smart counter to her male part, Robert. If not for her, they wouldn't even be together! Though, if not for her, people wouldn't think they were twins, either. Their snark and sass are divine, plus they're the only people who can understand exactly what they're going through."
Bonus:
"I really do wish people would stop saying these two are twins -_- Yes, I know Rosalind tells people that Robert is her brother, but how else do you expect a woman from 1912 to not be harassed for 1) living alone, 2) suddenly living with a man, and 3) doing science? I'm not against Twincest! Just leave it for actual twins!"

Reminds me of someone...
The parallels never stop
Especially in the first one, that is almost perfectly Silco's act one eye but pink
And to think that anyone still sees her as Vander's daughter?
