Hello everyone!
My name is Laura, I’m 26 years old and I am from Italy but currently I’m living in Barcelona, as I am taking part as an international volunteer to an ESC project with COCAT, a platform based in Barcelona that coordinates Catalan organizations that deliver summer work-camps and social-educational projects to young people. In my free time I like traveling, reading and learning foreign languages.
I am enjoying my time supporting the work here in the Incoming area of COCAT, especially because since a couple of years I‘ve been working during the summer as a seasonal monitor, role also known as ‘’Group leader’’, for several English-language study holidays abroad organized for Italian high school students. These types of study holidays, that usually take place in the United Kingdom and Ireland, are very similar in their aim and structure to the ones that here in COCAT are managed and coordinated, which are better known as workcamps and volunteering camps .
Moreover, as I got the chance when I was a teenager to personally participate fors several times to this type of short experience abroad, both in Spain and in the United Kingdom, I am aware about the importance and also about the difference that these leisure activities can make in the growth process of young people.
For this reason I find very inspiring to be part of the work that all the equip and I do everyday here in COCAT.
I look forward to telling you a little bit more about our ESC experience and our work in COCAT. Stay tuned!

Hello all!
I’m Jovana, an ESC volunteer at COCAT. I’m 27 years old.
I saw all the information about this volunteering on Facebook. I’ve always wanted to participate in ESC program so I applied. I didn’t expect they would choose me but in the end I was one of the lucky ones. :)
I have been to Catalonia before and I knew I would feel great here. Also, I really like the work we are doing here in Cocat. I’ve been working as a volunteer before in my city in Serbia, so I’m also familiar with what it means to be a volunteer.
I am grateful for the opportunity I have been given to participate in this project and I’m eager to learn so many new things and practice my Catalan and Spanish.
I hope that our little blog will be helpful to the future ESC volunteers!

Hello!
I am a national volunteer at COCAT. Before doing this volunteer I already knew COCAT because I had participated in international work camps with them. So, when I saw the call in COCAT’s Instagram I didn’t doubt, I wanted to work there and be part of it.
I love travelling, meeting people from other cultures and learning languages. In addition, I think there are many things in this world that we need to change as a society, that is why I firmly believe in the work camps and all the values of COCAT.
I am really happy here and excited to share a bit of our work and what we are living.

Hi everyone!
In our first post we would like to introduce COCAT, the NGO where we are working. COCAT is a platform of organizations integrated by those Catalan entities that organize international camps.
Basically, in COCAT they send Catalan volunteers abroad to take part in work camps in other countries and receive international volunteers in the national camps, organized by the local organizations.
We are learning how this network of entities works, helping with the registrations of volunteers and doing communication tasks.
