Footnote to Youth

By: Jose Garcia Villa Enlighten the youth about the early marriage. How to make this affect our future.

The story was all about a young teenager who’s only seventeen years of age and named (Dodong) asked his father that he wants to get married because he thinks he’s already a grown man and he thinks it’s the right thing to do because he’s parents also gets married at the same age as him. Without any words his parents never objects of what he decided to do and let Dodong and Teang (the girl she loved) get married and the years have passed Dodong and Teang have built their own family and had more children and Dodong sometimes got angry to himself because they could not stop the coming of children. Teang also was shapeless and thin even if she was still young. There was interminable work that kept her tied up. Cooking, laundry, house and the children. She also cried sometimes because she thinks that what if she haven’t married Dodong and instead choosing Lucio (her another suitor and its older than Dodong) But then because she loved Dodong so much in the moonlight, tired and querulous. She had a lots of questions and wished there would be someone could answer and she thinks what if she wise enough about many things and Dodong feel the same way as I have understand the story. Dodong just realized that why he’s parents never give any single word about he’s decision of marrying Teang before its because they wanted Dodong to experienced or feel what they have felt when Dodong wants to get married at the very young age and yes it happens, One night Blas (he’s oldest children) was very flustered and happy, he asked he’s son what is it all about of his happiness and feel restless on his mat and could not sleep and Blas started to tell his father (Dodong) that he wants to get married with Tona (the love of Blas) and Tona accepted Blas, and Dodong lay silent and tell Blas that life would be hard if they get married and Blas was still very young and asked him “must you marry?” and as expected Blas voice steeled with resentment “I will marry Tona”,Do you have objection, Itay?“ And Dodong felt extremely sad and sorry for his son.

The objective of this story is to let the youth know that marriage is sacred and important we should think many times if we must really enter with this married life situation.

Does it really need to be married at the young age to feel the love we wanted? Or is it be easy for us youth to get married early with the one we loved and take the risk of hardships in life?

I found out of this story was it is not just all about love we think if we want to get married its also about what will happen in the future, if we can take the hardships in life. It claims that if we pursue what we want without listening to our parents advices there are two things will happen in our future its either good or bad. The ideas of these is to enlighten youth’s minds that marriage is not that easy and so on life. The story gives message to youth that whatever it is we should really listen to our parents on what they will tell us because parents always knows best for us.

As what I have read about the story it says that Dodong was hard headed youth that he never thinks what will happen in the future and then realized his decision when its already too late and now his eldest Blas did the same thing.

The idea of the story was indeed nice to let the youth know what early marriage affects in the future. The explains that early marriage is not good for the youth.

I therefore conclude that the story was very interesting and we as youth will enlighten our minds about this early marriage thing and it does worth reading for. We youth, should really think wise about what we wanted in our lives. The benefit that we get about the story was indeed early marriage is not an easy decision to be decided automatically it should be thinking many times before we say yes, I suggest that we youth on our generation we think wise for our future. Love is not about a game to be played whatever we want or to pause whenever we want it to stop or to quit if we are already feel tired and lost. Love is precious to be cared of and same as marriage. Marriage is sacred.
