An absolutely perfect pairing. The padron 1964 Anniversary series Exclusivo in maduro with a Troegs Java Head Coffee Stout. The cigar is spicy and peppery with an earthy sweet aged tobacco and coffee, chocolate and licorice flavors. The Stout is rich and flavorful with a dark coffee, chocolate and Carmel flavor. The flavors pair so well together, I have to recommend you try it as soon as possible. You will not be disappointed.

The Perdomo Lot 23 Toro in maduro.
I retired myself to the back deck for a nice relaxing smoke the other night. I pulled a Perdomo Lot 23 maduro from the humidor and set out to toast it up and relax, it was lovely.
The Toro is a 50 ring gauge by 6 inch stick wrapped in a solid toothy dark brown wrapper. A Nicaraguan puro featuring leaves grown from one exclusive lot in Esteli.
I heard these sticks can be a little harsh when young so I let this age for about 3 months in the humidor, it seemed to work because this was a great cigar.
First tastes are very peppery with herbal spices, it then settled into an earthy, meaty smokey flavor with very prominent notes of a ground burnt coffee and powdered dark chocolate.
I say overall strength and body is medium to slight medium full.
This took me around two hours to smoke so enjoy this after you eat and when you have plenty if time to spare.
I really enjoyed this cigar and will pick up a couple more, it's great for a price point of around 5 dollars, i say give it a shot.

Kicked back at my local cigar shop Greentree tobacco and had a lovely Joya De Nicaragua Celebracion Consul.
This stick comes in at a 52 ring gague by 4.5 inch length.
Nicaraguan Wrapper, filler and binder.
A little over an hour to smoke. Has a nice leathery nut and coffee flavor.
Flavors are not too full and strength is not as robust as say the Antano 1970. The draw was a little firm but good overall.
Great construction and excellent burn.
give it a try, I think you'll like it, I know I did.

Padron 1964 anniversary Exclusivo.
Settled on the deck with a Jameson and a Padron. Here's my quick review below.
The Padron 1964 anniversary Exclusivo is a nice cigar with a light chocolate brown wrapper measuring in at a 50 ring gauge by 5.5 inch length.
Wrapper, filler and binder all Nicaraguan tobacco.
The pack is firm with a slight spring. Box pressed with a shallow single cap.
Prelight draw is of aged tobacco, pepper, earth, and a little cocoa or coffee.
First draw hits with pepper and aged tobacco. Draw is loose with a slight resistance and produces a full cloud of smoke.
Flavors start peppery and full deep aged tobacco in the first third. Ash holds on more than a third at a time. The second third shows the aged tobacco, coffee and cocoa with spice, pepper and a sweet licorice undertone.
The burn is sharp with some little waves here and there but overall it evens out.
Final third shows a touch of toasty nuts or wood along with the aged tobacco, pepper, cocoa and licorice undertone.
It finishes with the strength picking up to the full side of medium-full and the overall core flavors staying the same.
Excellent stick that lasted over an hour and had a few welcome changes.
If you have not had a chance to try this stick, I highly recommend you give it a try as Padrons rarely disappoint.
Hope you enjoyed this review and it helps you select your next fine cigar.
Happy smoking.

The Padron Sampler no.88
1 Padron 2000 Maduro 5 x 50
1 Padron 3000 Maduro 5 1/2 x 52
1 Padron 4000 Maduro 6 1/2 x 54
1 Padron 5000 Maduro 5 1/2 x 56
1 Padron 1964 Series Exclusivo Maduro 5 1/2 X 5
about 33 bucks on most good online cigar stores. http://www.famous-smoke.com is a good place to check out.
So it's no secret I'm a Padron guy. I bought an 8 cigar sampler and planned to review them but have not smoked one yet. I then decided I'd buy another sampler of 5, why not? 13 Padron cigars are better than 8 right?
I have to get to smoking these excellent assortment of nicaraguan puros soon.

The Nestor Miranda Art Deco robusto.
Enjoying a nice Saturday on the deck with a columbian coffee and a tasty cigar.
The art deco robusto is a 54 by 5.5 satin smooth cigar with medium brown wrapper showing some veins and a nice triple cap.
The prelight is a light tobacco with a barn yard aroma and cedar scent.
The smoke is full in volume and produces a nice aroma.
Flavors are of light but prominent aged tobacco with spicy cedar and pepper kick.
Into the second third woody notes and a cinnamon sweetness appear.
Flavors stay the same throughout and strength builds to about a medium body.
This is a pleasant relaxing smoke that is perfect for enjoying by a fire or at a nice barbecue on a summer day.
Very nice. Give it a whirl.

The Joya De Nicaragua Antano 1970 Gran Consul.
A nice cool night on the deck with a power packed little stick and a scotch.
The Joya De Nicaragua Antano 1970 Gran Consul comes to us in a stout 60 ring gage by 4.5 inch length. The wrapper is a nice reddish brown Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, filler and binder.
The cold draw has a medium to perfect pull and has a flavor of cedar with sweet aged tobacco and a dried fruit, maybe raisin.
Upon first light you get a shower of pepper and aged ligero tobacco with a cedar on the lips. The finish is of sweet dried raisin and a pepper that washes the back of the tongue and leaves an oily mouth feel on the lips and palate.
This little guy has some power as the nicotine kick develops before the first third finishes. You have to be careful because this stick tastes good and if you smoke it too fast you could give yourself a good wallop.
The second third brings a toasted nut to the sweet tobacco and raisin with pepper of the first. The flavors continue like this through the final third but a little carmel shows up at the very beginning of the third.
There is a definite spice that lingers through the life of the stick and really zings you if you exhale through the sinus but not in an unpleasant way as doing so increases the pepper and sweet finish from the flavors.
I had a couple rounds of dewar's scotch with this mean boy and it looped me a little. This cigar is medium-full to full in body and strength. the flavor does even off and diminish but the spices stay along with the strength for the life of the stick.
If you're feeling saucy give it a go.

I met Jorge Padron at Holts cigar shop in Philadelphia. Great guy, best cigars on the market. I had to pick up this little box of lovely leafy goodness.
This sampler presents cigars from Padron Classic Thousands series, 1964 Anniversary, and 1926 series. I went with the Maduro wrappers because they were calling out to me softly in a cocoa and coffee noted whisper.

I sat down and had a little night cap the other night, a nice Hoyo de Monterrey and a Jameson irish whiskey. check out my cigar review below.
Hoyo de Monterrey
rothschild in double maduro
50X4.5
Made in a factory in Honduras
wrapper is Ecuadoran Sumatra
Filler is Honduran, Nicaraguan, Dominican
Binder is Connecticut Broadleaf
medium to full bodied
Tight pack no soft spots on a dark chocolate shade wrapper.
Prelight scent is earthy tobacco with a little cocoa or coffee hint.
Cold draw is rich with earth and coffee.
Torching this little beauty produces a rich smoke with a pleasant aroma of aged tobacco.
The burn is very sharp throughout and produces a medium grey ash that holds on easily for each third.
First tasting notes are a spicy aged tobacco with a coffee note and a slight pepper that hits the back of the tounge then dies down. A deep earth and semi sweet tobacco persist throughout the life of the stick.
The flavors overall are medium bodied, they are tasty but do not shower the palate with great intensity. They stay the same mostly throughout but grow a bit as the stick progresses.
Strength is a medium body that grows to a medium-full by the end.
passing the smoke through the sinus showers the palate with more spice and increases the length or the finish making the overall flavor a little more peppery and sweeter.
I smoked this little guy right down to the nub and it did get a little harsh at about the half inch point but up to that point it was very enjoyable and a great smoke. I like the coffee notes and the spices are sweet and peppery, the strength was not overpowering but I did feel it a little.
This stick lasted about 50 minutes. I did smoke it slow and steady and was surprised it lasted so long.
Grab a coffee, scotch or a spiced rum to pair up with it and get ready to chill and enjoy.
