If You’re Struggling…

If you’re struggling to overcome patterns that Jesus set you free from, don’t worry. You’re not the only one. In this process of unlearning you’re going to make mistakes and Jesus already knows that. That’s why He said His grace is sufficient for you and that’s why He sent His Spirit, to help you and empower you to overcome. Instead of beating yourself up, accept His grace instead. If you need to be corrected on something He’ll do it for you. Let Abba (our Father in heaven) be Abba, and you be His child. If He disciplines you, rejoice. If He’s not correcting you or speaking to you at this moment, then things are fine. If it was really important, He’d tell you or make it known to you somehow because He cares for you, for your soul, and for your life.

Give Him thanks for what He’s set you free from and instead of majoring on your minors - dwelling on your mistakes and trials - start majoring on your majors. Take note of the differences you see from where you first started and compare them to today. Celebrate those victories even if they seem small to you and thank Him for them. God doesn’t always do things in leaps and bounds. He mostly does things little by little and inch by inch for a good reason. It’s for His purposes. Celebrate that what you’re going through will be used by God to help others because from it, you will come out with a gentleness and a compassion you’ve never had before. He’s showing how much He loves you and proving to you that He will never leave you by whatever it is you’re going through.

You’re not perfect and never will be. Being like Christ is about having the same maturity that Christ has, but you won’t succeed if you’re depending on yourself to make it happen. Lean on Him, rely fully on Him, and let go of trying to be the Lord of your life. There can only be one and His will and ways are so much better then yours. Take it from someone whose been going through it and is unlearning and learning each day. You and I are in the same boat, and if we’d just let Jesus have full control of our lives and fully give Him our hearts, we’ll make it through this storm and every storm that comes our way. How? Because our faith is being refined each day. We’re being refined each day and if that isn’t proof that Jesus is still God, that He’s in control, and that He’s still with us and for us despite our flaws and mistakes, then I don’t know what is. You’re going to make it. We’re going to make it.
