Hello,
This blog is mostly empty currently, though it would've been an art blog if anything.
Right now I mostly use it to lurk, so if I did end up writing a comment or started following and that's why you're here: Hello and good day to you!
Currently I use my sideblog @emisafan for reblogging stuff I like and occasionally post fanart. At the moment that's mostly Disco Elysium though. Why I am using a sideblog and not my main blog, I don't know. It kinda happened.

I redrew something.
I did a little digging in my art folder and found a piece from 2019 that I used to be really proud of. When I found it, I got the same feeling as I get when looking at PS3 graphics. "Wow I thought it looked so good back then." So I just knew I had to take another try at this piece.
I think the vibe of the two versions is very different. Someone told me the new one looks sad, while the old one seems more surprised. I don't think so, personally. What do you think?
Under the cut you can find close-ups and more information about this piece, for anyone intrested.
The eyes used to be like soap bubbles as well, and I liked that idea, even though I think it looks a bit scary. I don't know how well you'll be able to see it with the compression, but the eyes still do have the soapy colours.
Originally I thought this piece was from 2019, but turns out it's actually a version I had "fixed". Most of it was drawn in 2018. The main change I did in 2019, was to try and fix the placement and shape of the nose, because I used to draw noses way to short and didn't know how to detail them, while it might an improvement from the original, I don't think it's the best. Nontheless, I do think it was one of my better works back then and I understand why I was proud of it.
Here's a compilation of the three versions I have now:
It's almost like they grew a nose.
My biggest issue were the bubbles, since understanding them was my goal with the original piece (but I gave had given up on it) I had to look at a lot of soap bubbles for reference. My friend @depressoblueberry (thank you <3) helped me with figuing them out by giving feedback and telling me if they do, in fact, look like soap bubbles. (Looking at it too much and staring at photos of soap bubbles made me blind to my mistakes.) Now I'm quite happy how the bubbles came out. Later I was informed that apparently the colour of soap bubbles depends on the thickness of their walls. Luckily this isn't physics class.
All in all I'm really happy how this redraw turned out. You can really see how my art has changed over the last 6-7 years. I can't wait until this new version looks like old graphics to me.
#my art#redraw#original art#digital art#if you read this and you feel like your art isn't getting better#go find an old artwork and redraw it#you'll see how far you've come#highly doubt anyone's gonna read all that#but thank you if you did

Alright, so It's been a while, but back then I also started animating something Bartimaeus inspired (in my free time between working on a project for Uni). In my case it's Bartimaeus morphing from a bird into Kitty. I finally got around to finishing it, after what feels like ages. Thanks to @depressoblueberry for giving me tips and feedback while working on this. Also thanks for introducing me to this book series that I absolutely adore now.
It was a good practice, and I had lots of fun.
(Sadly I can only reblog with a GIF, so I hope the quality isn't too awful)
soooo i had to animate random stuff for my uni (next to the 3 minute short film i also have to animate) and decided, hey why not try and animate bartimaeus changing from a frog into nathaniel. so yes, this is technically a bartimaeus animation, not a nathaniel animation
idk if it was actually established that after the third book, bartimaeus also takes the form of nathaniel or if this is just a random headcanon of mine but i also don't want to check because i want to believe it's true. so there you go
