Russian Paratroopers Day:
On August 2, 1930 near Voronezh a parachute subdivision of 12 men landed in the fields and  this started a new tradition of the Soviet and then Russian army. This date is the professional holiday of paratroopers and is celebrated for already 79 years. Over this period landing troops took part in all armed conflicts of the former USSR.

STAS DOBRY:  Moscow is a huge megapolis. It pulsates, it changes. It has a lot of drawbacks, dullness and routine. All of it encourages to do street art. It is a protest against a consumer society, somewhat utopian. I understand that my paintings on the walls might get attention only for a few seconds of passers-by. A moment to think. But I don’t ask for something more.
Stas Dobry is a Moscow-based street artist, but above is a collage centered around the election protests in Moscow.

This poster was used by Soviet police in the 1970’s to track down enemies of the people. Found it kind of interesting...

Hey, i like your blog very much! :)) I'm russian and I never be in moscow. Now I can see something about this city, thank you! :) What is or was the best you have seen there? Do you speak russian or english there? And I have a last question you don't have to answer if you do not want: Is it very expencive to go to moscow? To live in a hotel, buy things, and so on.. Is it expensive to do theese things you do? I hope you'll answer soon:) Anna
Hi Anna! Privyet! I am so glad you liked my blog, I loved living in Moscow this past spring and I am glad I kept track of my travels with a blog! Moscow is an incredible beautiful city but SO EXPENSIVE. Probably the most expensive city on earth, worse than New York, London, Tokyo. I was there on business as an artist-in-residence at a hotel there so my trip and my hotel were all paid for, but to go on your own, you would need to save your money! Do you live in America or somewhere else in Russia? I am back in the US but I am saving my $ to go back!
