Finished The 08th MS Team! (And Miller’s Report)

Yet another disappointment. With Gundam Wing I’d say it was still pretty good all things considered, but with this the bad kinda outweighs the good.

Aina and Shiro’s romance is the only good part of this. Everything else is style over substance. And I mean that. Visually it’s great. I really like how it looks and the action is well executed, but the story is so bland and the characters lack depth. It doesn’t feel like Gundam at all.

With the exception of episode 12, which is very gundam and is very good.

The best episodes are: 1, 7, 10 to 12.

Miller’s Report was interesting. As far as recaps go. I really like Alice Miller, she’s got a mysterious vibe going for her, I wish she was an actual character in the OVA.

Yes, the Gouf fight was cool.

Anyway, watch it for Aina and Shiro’s Romance and nothing else!

3/5 overall, but the episodes I listed are 4/5, and episode 12 is a 5/5. I will watch that

Finished Macross 7!

I’m really not sure if this was a 5/5 or a 4/5. I’ll have to think on that for a bit, but I loved it a lot.

The fact it commits so heavily to “music will save the day” is amazing.

Gamlin was my favourite character!

I’ll probably start Dynamite 7 tomorrow. Not sure if it’ll be good or bad. Heard mixed things about it.

I finished both Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz (watched the movie version)

Wing is a bit of a mess but it’s enjoyable. After a very slow start, I think it finds its footing somewhere around the middle episodes, I was hooked by episode 25 at least. I like all the complicated political stuff and some moments will definitely stick with me for a while. The ending was a tiny bit underwhelming, it just sort of felt like CCA but on a smaller budget. So I didn’t really feel anything about it being over. Where this series shines though is the character writing. I think every character is at least somewhat likeable. Except for Wufei. What was he doing most of the time, man? Especially in Endless Waltz.

Endless waltz fixes a lot of my problems with it though. I don’t feel so underwhelmed anymore. This was awesome. It’s the perfect epilogue to the series and I’m glad most of the characters seem to have a happy ending. Heero’s ending is a little open ended, since he spent his whole youth as a child soldier pretty much. But I hope him and Relena got together at least. Otherwise I’d be pretty upset.

I’d say on its own, Wing is better than F91 and slightly behind 0083, but if you include Endless Waltz, it’s better than 0083 and slightly behind G Gundam.

3/5 for Wing, 4/5 for Endless Waltz, 4/5 overall. That’s my first impression anyway, I do wanna rewatch this because it took me nearly 4 months to get through it. Despite all that though, I do actually really like this show, it’s just very very flawed.

Favourite characters: Relena, Quatre, Duo, Lady Une, and Heero
