The flu had hit you hard. One minute, you were fine, the next, you were burning up with a fever, curled up in bed, and mewling in pain. Kaiser, ever the picture of icy composure, hovered nearby, a frown etched onto his face. "Useless," he muttered, but his voice lacked its usual bite.

He'd reluctantly agreed to stay and look after you, even though you hadn't asked. Now, he found himself fetching water, checking your temperature every hour, and even attempting to make soup. The soup, predictably, was a disaster... Kaiser wasn't the best cook.

As you drifted in and out of sleep, Kaiser sat beside you, a rare moment of vulnerability on his face. He brushed a stray strand of hair from your forehead, a gesture so gentle, it was almost shocking.

When you had woken up, feeling much better, there wasn't a sign of Kaiser anyway. He had probably fled before you woke up to avoid all the thank yous. Even though he was your partner for a while, he wasn't too keen on showing his soft side. You didn't mind since it's the gestures he did, wether he hid them or not, that showed that he did love you.

A/N: sorry it took me so long to answer this but I'm finally feeling better after being sick. I decided to write kaiser like this, because I feel like even with his partner he'd still be reluctant to show how much he cares, but obviously his partner knows he cares for them :)

Ness comes home from shopping for you. He hated to leave you alone like that. But he thought he would get the job done faster if he did it himself. While he’s been away, you have been falling in and out of sleep.

He walks in your shared room and he just feels the worst for you. He knows you didn’t deserve this kind of fate. You’re the love of his life! He would do anything and everything for you. So that’s what he’s doing.

He’s checking your temperature, he’s changing the rag on your head, it almost feels like he’s panicking. “Ness, I appreciate what you’re doing for me. But please calm yourself down some.” He just smiled at you. “I just want to take care of you. Let me work my magic.” So you give up and let him.

Ness does a really good job of taking care of you. He gives you more blankets when you feel cold, gives you soup that he just made in the kitchen, he even gives you short back massages on occasion. He wanted to turn the tv on for you at one point, but he thought the motion would make you feel worse.

At night, he fluffs your pillows up and he gives you the dose of medicine that you’re supposed to take for your sickness. You may fight him over it because of how bad it tastes. But he persuades you. “Take this please, it’ll help you feel better. When you get better, we can go on dates again!” He says that in the gentlest and softest voice you ever heard. You give in.

He then tucks you in and turns off the light after reading you a book that he found. “Sweet dreams my love, I’ll see how you’re doing in the morning.” He loves you, but he doesn’t want to get sick either, so he sleeps on the couch. But you bet he wakes up from time to time to check on you. And makes sure you don’t need anything.

The fluorescent lights of your apartment seemed to buzz louder than usual, a discordant symphony to your pounding headache. You burrowed further under the covers, the weight of the duvet a meager shield against the relentless chill that had settled in your bones. A gentle hand brushed the hair from your forehead, and you blinked, trying to focus on the blurry figure looming over you.

"Hey," a familiar voice murmured, laced with a rare tenderness that sent a warm shiver down your spine. Sae Itoshi. Of all people, here, hovering over your sickbed. Even though you've been with him for a while, you still couldn't get used to the fact that he did have a gentle caring side, away from the cold and nonchalant guy you'd see on the soccer field.

He pressed the back of his hand against your forehead, his brow furrowing with a concern you rarely saw. "You're burning up. What do you need?" you croaked, your throat scratchy. "Just...stay," you managed, your voice barely a whisper.

Sae didn't hesitate. He settled onto the edge of your bed, his presence a comfort in the swirling fog of your fever. He fetched a cool compress, carefully placing it on your forehead, and sat beside you, silent and still. The silence wasn't awkward, but rather a shared space of quiet understanding.

You drifted in and out of sleep, occasionally catching glimpses of him – reading a book, meticulously arranging your medicine, or simply watching you with an unreadable expression.

As the day wore on, the fever finally broke, leaving you weak but clear-headed. You watched him from your bed as he cleaned up the remnants of your illness. He had a look of satisfaction on his face. He turned back to you, a small smile gracing his lips. "You're still a mess, but you'll be okay," he said, his voice softer than you'd ever heard it. "I'll make you some soup." The simple gesture, the quiet care, was more than enough. God, you loved this man.
