Scourge blinked in confusion.

“Wait, what?” he asked, Manic giggling in the background.

Fiona couldn’t help but give a look to her partner as if to say ‘you’ve got to be kidding me’ while the diamond dragon give her a settle down motion with her hand.

�� “Wait, what?!”, he gawked in total shock. Did he just say Chaos Emeralds? As if it were his life force?! “OK, explain to me what exactly you are because I’m so confused right now.” ⇌ 

“Oh, well, I’m one of the Chaos Emeralds.” Sonic said, smiling a bit.

The Guardian had told him not to tell anyone about what he was, but, since the other did look a lot like him, he figured it’d be OK to tell him.

Sonic smiled as he saw the newcomer.

“Hello!” he greeted with smile, his ears perking up in excitement.

“Y-Yeah, it is...” Sonic said, looking over the edge of the island as well, his nervousness seemed to melt away, smiling a bit as he looked.

Watching the world below always calmed him down.

Sonic calmed down slightly as he spoke, but the dark energy still made him a bit on edge.

“O-OK… I-I’m sorry if I still seem nervous though…” he said, glancing down a bit, wishing he could calm down more… but he just wasn’t use to dark energy like this…

Why were they apologizing? It’s not like he was wrong for being suspicious or nervous. His gaze turns back towards the edge of the island, peering over the edge. It made him wonder how people could live up here.

“It’s because of the energy I give off isn’t it?”

But, one did. A blue hedgehog quickly found the other, his emerald green eyes glowing in excitement.

“Hel–” he was about to greet, coming up to the hedgehog. He stopped though as he sensed a dark energy coming form the other. This… may have been a mistake… How had he not sensed it before?

Despite his aura, Mephiles knew that nothing would be gained if he were to do something irrational. However, he does notice that the other had attempted to approach him. His own emerald gaze locks with the others, unsure what to make of things. He looked like Sonic, but something about him was off. 

“If you’re worried about me causing trouble, there is no reason for it.”

Why had he come here? Right, the one who was Zone hopping brought him here temporarily. Not that he was really complaining. He had nothing better to do. Perhaps, for now, he’ll just wait. Maybe watch as others did what they wanted, ignoring him completely. But something was off, he couldn’t pinpoint what just yet. But he had a feeling he’d find out sooner than expected.

OK, he was getting it. So a zone was like a different version of where he lived.

“OK. Wait, you mean there different versions of me? Like, a whole lot?” Sonic asked, his eyes starting to glow as he got excited by the thought that there were a lot of different versions of him.

So, he finally was understanding. Zonic cracked a smile at the younger hedgehog; he always had a soft spot for the curious ones (or was that just his alternates?). Removing his helmet and visor, he sat beside Sonic to talk. They might be here a while. 

“Zoners are just what we call the citizens who live in different zones, like… the Prime Zoners or, No Zoners.” He paused and gave a slight shrug. “Who knows why we call them that… I guess it’s just easier than calling them ‘the people from this zone’ or, ‘the people from that zone’. If, that makes any sense…?”

OK, that made sense. Well, except for one little thing…

“OK, but, what are zones?” Sonic asked. He didn’t remember the Guardian ever mentioning anything that. Maybe not even the Guardian knew what zones were…

“Yeah, he wouldn’t be happy to see a stranger on the island.” Let alone talking to the shifter. Sonic scratched the back of his head as he tried not to think about how angry the Guardian would be if he knew there was a stranger here.

He blinked as his ears perked up at her last statement.

“O-Oh, yeah.” he said, almost disappointed she was ging to be leaving, but trying not to show it.

Jewels of Green [Sonic]

“You mean the Guardian?” Sonic asked, then paused for a moment as he thought about it.

“He’s off gathering food. He should be back in a little while.” he added.

         So there WAS a guardian of the master emerald in this universe. In that case (if he was anything like his hot-headed alternates) Sardonyx better not linger here too long, because she might end up over-staying her welcome. Placing gloved forefinger over her lips, hushed curiosity gently flared within.

         “Hmm, well he probably wouldn’t enjoy seeing a stranger near the shrine would he?” she observed out loud. “I should probably go soon then, so I won’t cause him or you anymore trouble.”

He tends to sneak off island a lot and gets souvenirs from his trips to the surface.

He has a whole cave filled with various electronics and stuff(kinda like Ariel from Little Mermaid) which he keeps secret from Knuckles

He even has a car in there. The others have no idea how he got it in the cave

Hopeful Youth [Sonic]

Sonic smiled, his ears perking up.

“It’s really nice to meet you Sardonyx.” he said. He was always really excited to meet new people and make new friends. It was something that he didn’t get to do often, if ever.

         In a way this Sonic alternate’s optimism was similar to that of some mere child. Although it seemed quite adorable, that observation couldn’t help but goad Sardonyx’s thoughts into wondering just how much interaction with people this blue hedgehog had. When he spoke up with a vivid enthusiasm however, those ideas were temporarily derailed so that she could input attention on this predicament.

         “It’s... nice to meet you too.” Sardonyx said, before optics scanned surroundings with a perplexed look. “Say um, I don’t mean to pry but isn’t there supposed to be an echidna guarding this place, or something?”

Sonic stared at the familiar looking newcomer. He tilted his head to the side in slight confusion.

“You look a lot like my brother.” he said.

     ∼ “ Well then yer brother must be really good lookin’. ” gloated Scourge, with the most egotistical grin on his muzzle.

Sonic smiled and giggled a bit, his eyes glowing a bit.

“You even kinda act like him.” he said. Though, his brother really acted like when he knew(or rather, thought) no one was around.
