ok wait tell me about thess pop culture deities and the godspousing thing
This ask game
Girlie pop when I tell you the things TikTok did to modern spiritual online spaces is CRAZY and I will talk about it for hours were any of you there for the hexing the moon era? That was hilarious.
Anyways I’ve never understood the whole pop culture deities thing but generally I think it was like?? Either ppl “worshipping” pop culture artists who had passed away or ppl “hopping on band wagons” and doing worshipping work because they saw it on TikTok
Either way I don’t think it’s doing any harm. Like, if you wanna give offerings to Robbin Williams and pray to him if you’re about to do a drama audition I say go for it?? Treat it like you would any other spirit/deity work. With respect and compassion.
As for the “god-spouse” thing. That’s basically when you treat your deities like a marital commitment.
See I feel like modern people are really freaked out by “ god-spousing” and they forget that for centuries Catholics have literally done this. Nuns are in a sense “married” to god. So are priests.
I feel like anyone who’s weirded out by it should examine why someone else’s faith & choices makes them uncomfortable. This practice has been around for centuries and on its own it doesn’t harm anyone. TikTok is just being weird about it.
Could never be me though.

Casual late night reminder that witchcraft does not always need to involve spells and candles and crystals and cards. Some days it is my embroidery and my tea against the world and that is OKAY

i’m making a witchy discord server for myself with a whole bunch of resources i’ve stumbled across throughout the years and things i want to add to my book of shadows/grimoire. it has a huge library though that i’m still adding to. i might post an invite to the discord server or put all the books in an organized google drive for everyone’s perusal. whichever i have the energy for i guess or maybe even both.

Whether you’re a devotee or a worshipper, you’re not always gonna be at your best, and there are gonna be times - maybe lots of times - where you may not feel you can give 100% to your deities. You may not even be able to talk to them at all.
That’s why I LOVE devotional jewellery or any other kind of devotional item that you can carry with your person. Just the simple act of putting on a necklace or a ring or something similar is such an amazing way of showing your deities “hey, I’m still here. I still love you. I still carry you with me.“

i found a witchy store when i was in little five points in atlanta this weekend and picked up some tumbled stones and a couple crystal chip bracelets and then some girl was wire wrapping right outside so i bought a small agate pendant and i’m so so happy with my irresponsible spending. i’m so broke, but little five points is one of my favorite places on earth and we were there for a mitski concert and she was fucking amazing and i got such cool merch. i’m literally this emoji rn 🥰

Cemetery in Legnica, Poland, illuminated with thousands of grave candles for the 1st and 2nd of November - the days of All Saints and All Souls (Wszystkich Świętych and Zaduszki).
Each of the small lights means someone praying for their passed-away relatives and friends, or for the soldiers fallen during the World Wars.

I'm reading about how Israel, in the immediate aftermath of the 1948 Nakba, deliberately replaced olive trees and other indigenous flora with European plants. This ecological disaster, which is now proudly hailed under the banner of 'making the desert bloom,' was done to 'de-Arabize' the landscape, and to cover up - often with fast-growing European pine trees -the ruins of Palestinian villages that were destroyed by Zionists forces.
And I just need everyone to read this passage from Pappé, because the symbolism of what happened to those European pine trees in the desert speaks for itself:
