DISCLAIMER: Theon is the strongest character in the show, no doubt. But the discussion of strength here is focused on the idea of strength in Westeros, not our perspective of it. But yes, Theon is the strongest character in the show. :)
Can we talk about that single tear that fell down Theon’s face the moment he realised that his time had truly come?
Of course, he knew as soon as he offered to defend Bran in the Godswood that he would die in doing so, but no one ever quite comes to the full realisation until you’re in the moment. And you’d think, after achieving redemption and concluding his character arc, he’d manage to put on a brave face with his newfound strength like fabled heroes had done before him.
But that’s exactly the thing: he was no fabled hero. He was no destined knight, no skilled warrior, no brave hero, but a human. In a world where you are judged by strength and honour, and you are expected to be a heroic knight or honoured lady, Theon was neither strong nor honourable. He had suffered, he was weak, he had done horrible things and paid for them; he was human. And in the moment where the typical stereotype is to put on a brave face, he cried. He cried because he was still scared. He didn’t want to die. He didn’t want to never see Yara, never see Sansa, never see anyone he’d ever loved again. He knew what he had to do, but he was scared nonetheless, scared of never having the chance to see his family again.
Just think about how human that is. In a world where you’re expected to accept your fate and face it with all the might you can muster, Theon was scared of his in the final moment. And that’s just it: being human isn’t falsifying a mask of strength to go down with, or wielding the perfect image as you’re struck down, but accepting your imperfections in the very end, and learning that it’s okay to be scared, because that’s part of being human. And Theon did just that.
And with all that said, that single tear shed in the dark of the Godswood served as the greatest symbol for humanity in the entire show. And that is what makes Theon such a great character: humanity.

To the man that brought us Hvitserk Ragnarsson. To the man that showed us brotherhood, love and life. To the man that is no one’s dog. Happy birthday, Marco Ilsø! 🥳❤️

Those who know my account mostly know that I post Game of Thrones content, but Vikings is the other fandom that I’m a part of! I just haven’t posted about it yet since the lack of presence from the fandom overall, but I want to start posting to keep the fandom alive! We can’t let such an incredible story die out like this. 💫
A word to the wise, or a small thought - whatever you want to call it:
To those who think the Vikings fandom is dying: this fandom will stay alive if we keep it alive!
Writing and posting is great, but reading, liking, commenting and reblogging is so important too! It's hard to stay motivated when your new chapter / one shot only gets 10 marks (I’m not talking about myself).
There are plenty of skilled writers who are neither super famous nor very popular (yet). This does not mean that their writings are worthless. They also need your love. Please, give them a chance, they deserve it (if you don’t know who they are, please send me a DM).
You are the Vikings fandom, we all are the Vikings fandom so...
Let's support each other, let's love each other! Together, let's make our sky a little brighter 😉 (yeah I know, shameless self promotion, but well, that’s my post so... 😂)
And guess what? Ivar agrees 🤩 (and he loves you 🥰)

me: Jon telling Theon that he never lost him and then specifically preceeding to say “he’s a part of you, just like he’s a part of me” is a beautifully subversive way of Jon telling Theon that he never lost himself. Think about it: if Ned is a part of Theon, and Theon never lost him, he never lost that part of him that he denied when capturing Winterfell, that Ramsay denied when he became Reek, that Yara denied when Theon abandoned the ship during Euron‘s attack. Jon shows Theon that he may have denied his identity, but never lost it, no matter how far he strayed from it.

lady sansa stark of winterfell did not win the battle of the bastards, reuinte the entire north, watch her father and brother be murdered, survive two sadistic abusers, keep the northern people warm and fed for the winter, manipulate & outplay a master manipulator, rule winterfell by herself as a teenager, and kill two of everyones least fave characters just for ya’ll to dislike her for not wielding a sword
