Hey, how many prototyped sprites does a session need pre-entry? Do they all need to to be prototyped to fully develop the battlefield? Because the only examples we received were a full session (all sprites prototyped at least one pre-entry), a void session (no prototypes), and a dead session (prototype turning into that fucking great black hole).

Hmm, well friend the answer is actually rather interesting,

If you were asking bare minimum how many it would take, I’d say 2 or 3 prototypings would be needed. As it would turn this.

Into this.

And then into this. Nothing giant, mind you, but a large enough Battlefield for a war to take place. If you’re worried, then bump it up to this with a third one.

However, I’d have to ask that you prototype pre-entry at least once. Yes, that means every single person. Is this a risk? Yes, but the game gives you those for a reason. SBURB makes sure that you get your Kernel Sprite beforehand so you can actually prototype it. To have a Fully Developed Battlefield, you need a Full Session’s worth.

This is where things get interesting.

I’m assuming you ask this because you either want to know how little a session can be or avoid prototyping and upgrading the Kingdoms too much. And these are understandable risks and goals. However, I must say this. Skaia doesn’t stop prototyping and evolving after the third or fourth person, and it would actually be beneficial to your cause to prototype every sprite once pre-entry. Why?

Because each time that happens, Skaia grows.

Skaia will grow larger, the Battlefield becomes bigger, the war greater. Derse and Prospit upgrade, meaning both sides will fight Harder which will prolong the Battle. It’s hard for Derse to win once you’ve got a planet sized battle, even more difficult if it goes solar system sized. But only one prototyping to make a City Block sized board, or a large multifaced box? If Derse gets in a good shot or two, it’s all over.

On top of this, Skaia doesn’t just grow each time a new prototyping reaches it, it heals. 

Skaia is torn up by Derse and Prospit’s war, and once Derse wins it’s torn up even more. If Derse wins quickly, and Skaia’s the bare minimum size of existing, the Reckoning will wipe it out in a few easy hits. A Bigger Skaia means a more hearty Skaia. After all, with that full session you mentioned, we saw this.

That isn’t an edit or anything, that’s what happened after Jade entered. A Mobius Net, checkerboard pattern, bigger and better. Now Jade only took the planet portion of this, so you can tell that’s the centerpiece of it all. However, Skaia getting bigger and bigger is no mistake or triviality. It can turn the tides of a battle very quickly, draw out a day long war to months or years even. Just be careful.

We uh, we found out some prototyping makes Skaia’s size kinda irrelevant.

Struggle with crucial plot point in HS story.

I need a way for my Beta trolls and Beta humans to meet up and get to the Alpha human session, much like in the canon session. Except I’m not planning on having The Tumour present as I feel that relates more to Karkat’s impatience and the Knight class’s strange dual nature of entering a session that lacks their aspect - in Dave’s case, Time, and in Karkat’s case, Blood (arguably - there were bonds in there, but also lots of urges to kill each other) - and then having to provide support to the team using it (Dave’s excellence at creating stable timeloops, and Karkat’s strength as a team leader, at least until Bec Noir showed up).

The Beta humans I have are Witch of Hope, Heir of Blood, Mage of Void, Seer of Space, Prince of Life, Bard of Time, Knight of Light, Page of Doom, Thief of Heart, Rogue of Rage, Maid of Mind and Sylph of Breath.
