It would have been so cool if Tobias’s letter to Avery in the first book, DEAREST AVERY, I’M SORRY, referred to Alice as well.

We know the old man knew his wife is alive. Maybe he wanted to get her back on the board. Maybe they weren’t as in love as he said. Maybe he cheated with Odette and she left.

And I remember someone making a post with a theory that I liked so much!!! Something about Grayson being the one destined to face Alice and win over her. It really makes sense if you think. Tobias called him “heir apparent” all the time and he said things like “when the time comes, it’s going to be you.” He knew he wouldn’t give them the inheritance, so what he wanted to suggest with those phrases towards Grayson? The time for what exactly?

I think it would be so cool to have that theory canon, but I don’t think the books are going in this direction. Either way, it would have slayed!!!

I think TGB will have Jameson’s POV instead of Grayson and honestly, I wouldn’t mind it. I think it will be Avery, Jameson, Lyra and Gigi. Tbh I’d prefer Rohan’s POV than Lyra’s but as Lyra is tied to the mystery, she’ll be there for sure. Even if Rohan and Jameson team up, I don’t think Rohan will get his POV.

At the end of GR we see Rohan talking to Gigi. I assume he sends her somewhere, maybe in London at The Mercy (it would be interesting…imagine Gigi there 🤣🤣 she would get besties with The Proprietor 🤣🤣) Having this said, Gigi will have a POV for sure.

Avery will also have one as the epilogue stated. And regarding Jameson, he might get a POV because he goes to Prague probably looking for Avery and clues. And it makes sense to see things from his POV as well, especially now.

Jameson: I dare you to eat your hat.

Nash: *looks at Jameson*

Nash: (out of character) do I have to actually eat the hat on camera or-?

Director (offstage): No, we're going to cut the scene after that dare.

Nash: Nooooo! I really wanted to though!

[Grayson, Jameson, Xander all break out character and start laughing]

[Cameras pans to Avery and Libby actors off the set holding in their laughter]

Grayson: Who is this?

Lyra: Your father.

Grayson: *dramatic gasp*

Grayson: Papa?

In this fun world I imagine that Sheifield and Grayson are an amazing father son act, and Avery and Skye are really close. Like, nothing like the books, just a good old cast.

Yeah, that went well I suppose. As soon as she saw him she fell in love or something 🤣🤣 so much for that hate 🤣🤣 She’s lying herself at this point. I don’t think she ever hated Grayson 😂

I was reading chapter 32 and out of nowhere Grayson said “you don’t fall.” We know, bro, you won’t let her.

I have always loved Grayson’s character but this writing seems so stretched to me. I don’t feel the need to swoon or whatever, his POV and Lyra’s POV are sometimes repetitive and sometimes boring :)) And I say this as a person who always had him as her favourite character :))

Once more, I love the dynamic between the Hawthorne brothers and Avery at the bonfire scene. The On Spake scene with Gray and Jamie showed they always had that connection no one else does. And this made me think of something:

Avery and Jameson brought Grayson into the game so he could play for himself for once.

Of course I don’t like that JLB didn’t mend their relationship for real. Like, stop the fighting, give me a hug between them 🥹 But they still care for one another. At the end of the day, they are family. They will always be brothers.

Regarding the Jameson hate online, I have to say something.

When he was portrayed as a freaky physically obsessed guy everyone praised him. But now that he’s reacting in some way BECAUSE THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED and he’s not quite the biggest Lyra fan, everyone hates him.

The double standards are loud :))

I LOVE GIGI, ROHAN AND SAVANNAH! Not much to say, their chapters are the most interesting.

I LOVE THE DYNAMIC BETWEEN SAVANNAH AND ROHAN. At first I thought their relationship will dwell on the spice. BUT I’M VERY HAPPY THE WAY THEY ARE PORTRAYED AS ALLIES (who have feelings for each other). They start open up and this is soooo good for their dynamic.

Gigi and Slate are cute 😂😂 I’m excited to get to the part with Eve. Because I never liked her. Let’s see if this book will change my opinion, at least to make me support her having a redemption arc.

Lyra Kane analyse

Why did Lyra stop dancing? Psychologically speaking, when you have a trauma or major stress in your life, extracurricular activities help you cope, help you keep a clean mind, help you fight back against those negative thoughts and feelings. You have to find things in order to defy the trauma that haunts you, not to dwell on it. In most of Lyra’s chapters, here in GR and in TGG, she dives in the trauma all the time, like she doesn’t deserve to feel something else. I mean, JLB portrayed her in a strange way like she’s always pitting herself. Yeah, she is badass (hence the catcalled scene in TGG), but what else?

Why did Lyra stop dancing after all? Because of those dreams? It doesn’t quite make sense. In order to defy the trauma you have to find little joys or comforting things to help you move forward. There’s this thing with the running, it’s true. BUT IF SHE LOVED DANCING THAT MUCH WHY DID SHE GIVE UP? I don’t know if this makes sense, but still. Seems weird. I don’t criticise Lyra as a character, but the way she has been written. (I’m a literature & creative writing person and I read between the lines, don’t hate me) 🤣🤣

Don’t understand me wrong, it’s not that I dislike her character. But her chapters don’t keep me hooked. I’m sure she could have had much more potential and JLB could have explored it in another way. There’s also this thing with Lyra talking about her parents and how they kept the trauma away from her, and that she lived in a lie. What did she want? I’m sure her parents wanted to protect her. I don’t understand her inner motives :)

In chapter 2 we have this: “For years, her parents had let her believed that she was normal.” I don’t understand…wasn’t she normal? I’m sure she’s normal even now. Reading between the lines it’s like she blames her parents for protecting her. At least this is what the writing suggests.

Another thing is the dynamic between her and Grayson. I said this before and I’ll say it again, I don’t ship them, I don’t feel the chemistry or anything. I like them as a team, but not as a couple. They don’t seem the best match. I wanted someone with no ties or anything to the Hawthorne drama for Grayson. That scene with Lyra not letting him give her jacket was a little weird 😂 she just kissed him? Why not accept his jacket? It was a little weird for me😂

Her inner conflict doesn’t make sense. She kissed Grayson deliberately. Why is she like “she had to forget where the bodies have touched”? It’s annoying 😂 she kissed him because (I guess) she wanted too kiss him. Now she is like “oops, a mistake, let’s forget about it.” 😂

Thanks for reading. As I go further into the book, I’ll write other things too :) Note that this is not backlash to the character, but I review the writing the most.
