Being around my mother is so 😵💫 she’s honestly a good person and a good mom, but she’s so so shallow and so critical of the people closest to her

I guess it’s natural that someone’s first Very Serious relationship is fairly likely to end badly. But man, my previous relationship gave me so much heart break, now I’m regularly amazed by my partner just… acting like he likes me.
We stay in together most nights and cook dinner and watch TV and movies or just talk. And every day I’m like “Wow, he wants to spend time with me🥹” or he takes care of something without me even asking and I’m like “Oh wow, he actually cares about me🥹🥰” and it’s just crazy to me that I thought I was *so* in love for 5 years. I *was* in love for 5 years, and he just…. (I think unintentionally) took advantage of that. And now my current partner shows me love and consideration and companionship and I’m blown away.
I guess I should thank my ex for helping me appreciate the little everyday stuff, because I missed out on that level of love for so long.

in all seriousness i am not in favor of murdering even evil people, in the sense that I wouldn't do it myself, but this guy was in charge of a deeply corrupt and evil company condemning countless thousands of people to suffer in agony and die in indignity. To the mysterious assassin, this CEO might well have been the man who slowly and painfully killed their wife, their child, their brother or parent...
The nature of power is that if you utterly crush people to the point where they have nothing left to lose and nowhere worse to go, you ironically become completely powerless, because your victims now have no reason to fear you and no reason not to turn on you.

“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”
— Vincent Van Gogh
