I really want to see a deep dive into this friendship that’s been quietly developing behind the scenes. I’m completely convinced the twins are behind Elain’s subtle changes—her sudden, silent appearances, and the way she keeps secrets even better than Azriel (ahem, spy squad, ahem). I’ve adjusted the color palettes a bit, but honestly, the vibes from Elain’s story make me feel like she could be the darkest one, haha—considering the whole espionage angle, the visions (which, if you think about it, are genuinely creepy—no wonder horror movies like Final Destination or Premonition exist), the villain Koschei, and that terrifying lake…

We love to think that Solstice wasn't the last time that Azriel listened to Elain, enraptured as she told him about her garden plans. 

Imagine them some time in the future, cozy in their sleep clothes, comfortable and safe together. No matter how many times Elain pulls out her journal to tell him about her new plans, Azriel melts at her enthusiasm and joy and wonder-filled voice and takes in every word like each one is a gift.

Our strong, quiet dreamer of a flower girl deserves nothing less.

Elain Archeron Week: Secret Garden

This piece is inspired by the night Azriel stayed up late with Elain while she showed him her gardening plans. That night, Elain felt comfortable enough to share her passion with Azriel and gave him a gift that shows she’s been observing him in a way others haven’t. I think this night is a pivotal moment in their relationship where Azriel realizes the depths of his feelings for Elain.

Whether he’s following the sound of her laughter, staring at the gift she gave him at night, or preparing his shadows to strike those that insult her, Azriel is the ultimate yearner for Elain Archeron. I can’t wait to see the yearning notched up even more in Elain’s book as they navigate their feelings for each other.

Elain’s love of gardening says so much about the resilience and perseverance of her character. At the surface, a garden is just something beautiful to look at, but what you don't see is the work that went into creating that beauty. The planning, the weeding, the dirty and torn hands. Like a garden, Elain has so much going on beneath her external beauty. Hidden depths that prove she is more than just a pretty face.

Elain is willing to get her hands dirty for the beautiful things in her life. For those she loves. She is willing to endure pain knowing the end result will be worth it. Like most SJM characters, Elain has a darker side yet to be explored. Gardening may bring life, but with life also comes decay and death. What makes Elain so special won’t be her physical beauty, but the secrets hiding within her.

Headcanon: Elain Meets Bryaxis

What happens when Bryaxis, who’s been missing for two books now, is found by Elain stalking around the middle? Once trapped in eternal darkness, longing for a window, for light, it now struts about Prythian, shapeshifting into many creatures to blend in.

When Elain is tasked with finding Bryaxis, it has shape-shifted into a cat, to her shock and utter delight! 🤭 And like all beings surrounded by darkness, Elain is like a beacon of light that attracts them. Bryaxis sticks with Elain throughout her journey, helping her along the way and becoming close friends.

Side note: I got this idea from reading the Emily Wilde trilogy. Wendell owns a magical demon cat who’s very protective of him, and I thought, what if Elain had a shapeshifting demon guardian at her side? ACOTAR is severely missing the cute animal sidekick!

Elain returning from another day in Velaris, her hands dusted with earth, her heart full from helping others, it’s such a beautiful image of who she has become.

She could have chosen silence, retreat, or bitterness after all she endured. Instead, she embraced her new identity and set her mind to making something more, building a new life, helping Feyre’s people, and quite literally creating beauty from the scars of war.

It reminds me of Audrey Hepburn’s words: “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” 🌱✨

That’s what Elain is: hope made flesh, the promise that tomorrow can still hold light.

Seeds Planted | Elain Archeron Week

“Nesta started, not having heard her sister approach. She scanned Elain from head to toe, wondering if she’d been taking lessons in stealth either from Azriel or the two half-wraiths she called friends.”

It’s obvious that Sarah is setting up an arc for Elain that involves stealth and secret keeping, especially by making Elain’s friends/trio spies. I can’t wait to hear all the tea that Nuala and Cerridwen are going to spill to Elain (and us) in the next book!

I was so excited to come across @peebakoo ‘s work and immediately had to get in touch with her for this idea. She is the absolute sweetest and I’m so grateful she was able to fit me in for this playful piece of our girls! 💗

Elain Archeron is a character whose potential has always felt limitless. Her arc is still unfolding, and there’s a sense of quiet anticipation around her, as though we are only beginning to see the surface of what she can truly become.

Her connection to the tale of Blodeuwedd has always fascinated me: a woman born of flowers, tied to the cycles of love, betrayal, and transformation. Like Blodeuwedd, Elain’s story carries undertones of beauty entwined with destiny, but also the possibility of breaking free from what others have decided for her.

🪻Elain Week Day 4: In Full Bloom🪻

**ACOTAR and Crescent City spoilers **

🌅Elain Archeron- Dusk Personified 🌄

While reading the ACOTAR series, many Elriel shippers noticed the sprinkled dusk court hints associated with Elain. Even before HOFAS was published, it was theorized that Elain might be able to awaken the prison from its long slumber.

Time and time again, Elain has been described using dusk imagery:

~ Her scent is jasmine and honey, reminiscent of the night court (whose ruler is the direct descendant of Theia and Fionn.)

~ Her wardrobe color palette: A variation of pinks, blues, and purples.

~ Elain, glowing like the sun at dawn, and whose smile was as bright as the setting Sun.

Elain, as a character, contains multitudes. She can thrive during daylight hours, baking and gardening, and helping the people of Velaris. But just like flowers, she needs darkness to balance her out. When needed, she’s not afraid to do whatever it takes to protect her loved ones, even if it means traveling through shadows to protect her sister from the King of Hybern.

After HOFAS, Elriel shippers’ theories were even more confirmed. The way Theia nurtured the dusk court and made the island’s heart blossom and bloom, the way Bryce created gardens wherever she walked in Avallen after awakening it, and the way Bryce needed to combine her light and dark powers to awaken the island, reminiscent of Elriel’s description during the Truth-Teller scene, are all possible Easter eggs for a dusk court plot in the upcoming ACOTAR book.

Elain’s journey is full of light and dark imagery, and I can't wait for all the moments to culminate into something epic.

Day 3: Sunrays

After everything Elain has endured, she still has hope for the future, wishing for more gardens and joy to be spread far and wide for all to experience. Her radiant soul has always captivated my attention, and I'm so incredibly excited for her story. I'm ready for SJM to show us that soft female leads are just as powerful and strong. 💗

I wanted to capture Elain in a more relaxed art style than my usual style. The photo of Rainiana was my inspiration for the piece. 🥰

A young Azriel completely in the dark, one day begins hearing voices in his head and seeing things move around in the dark. No one was there to tell him what was happening to him, whoss voices they were or exactly why the shadows moved around him. He had to figure it out all on his own.

500 and so years later, he meets a beautiful woman who sits in front of the window, sunshine streaming through, she’s lost in her own thoughts, depressed. Suicidal. Everyone around her believes she has become crazy, even her cauldron-chosen mate could not figure out what was amiss until Azriel, truly sees Elain and realises what she has become. A seer.

He too had suffered as she had. Both of their powers form as voices in their head.

“It made sense, I supposed, that Azriel alone had listened to her. The male who heard things others could not … Perhaps he, too, had suffered as Elain had before he understood what gift he possessed.”
