A Single Gal's Guide To Enjoying Singlehood
People often tell single girls, "Enjoy your freedom while you can" and, well, I'm not looking to screw everything that moves so I often ponder what people mean by "enjoy your freedom". Are y'all not free in your relationships? And how can I indulge in this privilege?
Here's my list so far:
1. Get busy! (not like that) Keep your calendar full with new activities, girls nights, mentorships, happy hours, naps, gym time crunch time, yoga retreats, ice skating, bowling, church fellowship, pottery class, a side hustle, coupon clipping, volunteer, museums and walk at any speed you want! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS. Ask questions without thinking you have to sound smart. Invest in yourself and challenge yourself.
2. Experiment! (not like that) Try a new hairstyle. See if anyone notices when you're not wearing a bra. Go days without wearing makeup and see if you feel liberated or isolated because all of your loved ones left you. Do whatever whenever because you don't have to answer to anyone.
3. Don't experiment. Do exactly, and I mean exactly, what you know you like to do without consulting anyone. Go ahead, order that pizza just the way you like it.
4. Play around on Tindr (not like that...well) Swipe a bunch of people right for no reason just to see who is attracted to you, who will say stupid stuff, and who you can have surprisingly interesting and profound conversations with with a plutonic agenda.
5. Flirt with strangers for no reason.
6. Read. Like books. I suggest reading memoirs by funny ladies like Mindy Kaling, Lena Dunham and Tina Fey (in no particular order). However, use some alone time to have a party in your mind with strangers or even some familiar characters from a book you used to know.
7. Take yourself on dates (like that). You know that perfect date you're waiting for that someone to ask you on. ASK YOURSELF. Get all dressed up (for yourself). Order for two (for yourself). Ask questions (to yourself). Learn about the person you're with and see if you're in love with that person. Make love (to yourself).
8. Invent an app or any type of innovation. Be observant in your solitude and use your heightened sense to see what is not there. Change the game...or have fun making up ridiculous apps that should exist.
9. Spend time with and learn to appreciate your family. Yes, I know they are irritating most of the time, but used you built up love to find your most grateful self and appreciate your fam. Call your Mum. Call your Dad. Hangout with your cousins and learn from the OGs in your family with all the wisdom.
10. Be weird and disgusting. You know what you do. Now, enjoy it without judgement. #DontJudgeMe
11. Do something everyday that scares you. “Run toward your fear and let fear be your fuel” - A Wise Lady
12. Focus on your goals. These boys aint going nowhere. Don't sweat it. A man (or woman or more #inclusivity) will join your full, happy life already in progress.
Enjoy life because you're blessed to be where you are.
What did I forget?
Ah, yes, write a blog post about being single.

Where Are You From?
When someone asks me, off jump, "Where Are You From?", I understand my name is different and my skin is a little darker and you want to be able to pin point why I'm different. But, you also imply that I don't belong in this space. I can't be from here.

Some Tinder Moments
http://www.buzzfeed.com/rossalynwarren/this-is-what-happens-when-women-actually-accept-a-compliment?utm_term=.xn2LOVdVvR
So today I read this article and thought, as a feminist, I must participate and do research in order to inform my stances on men and women in society.
Things I’ve learned from Tinder:
1. 1 out of every 2 white guys who match with you and chat you will bring up the fact that you’re black and/or that they are sick with jungle fever.
2. Social experiment - as a feminist, I was super ready to dive in so I could prove it right. I swiped right on about 300 people just so I could be apart of a strong statement. But, the truth is while guys were generally not used to self validated women as long as you agree politely most don’t mind. Taken back? yes. Concerned? For the most part no. They'll probably call you cocky and make joke about their cock.
3. It’s not all about sex. But, when the clock strikes 12 midnight. Forget about having a conversation that doesn’t end in sex talk :p
4. Some ugly boys are mean and some hot boys are nice.
5. A simple picture change can change your entire match life. I change my photo from a pretty candid to a closeup shot smiling and my matches tripled with almost every person initiating conversation.
6. Dudes love to have other people in their pictures. From moms to cutie girls (their girlfriend perhaps) to their bros. Why? What does this stem from? Is this truly an insecurity or are they trying to play to some type of female emotion - compassion or jealously or confusion perhaps?
7. Tinder will kill your battery FOR REAL
8. Something about when boys use emojis, exclamation points, and your name in conversation makes it extra exciting and personal. Even if their creepy looking, it makes me want to talk to them.
9. Whenever I think something nice about a boy, I then question if it's a ploy and they know my weaknesses.
10. I never made a Tinder before because I was scared of what other people would think if I was online dating. But, even mass Tindering for research, the reason I like is because every couple seconds I get validation that I'm pretty and interesting.
--
11. Nigerians love to ask "where are you from?". (Even though they probably already know) - well, that's true on and off Tinder
12. Apparently, there are not many Nigerian Jamaicans in the world. I'm unique and it's appreciated on social media. Quote: best of both worlds
13. I like how it says "Keep Playing". Like a game! As if these are not people, it's just fun to judge people and collect hearts...It is fun.
14. Seeing someone you know will stop you in your tracks! You know you shouldn't swipe ripe as to not make things weird or awkward. But, you do want to know if they swiped right and you can't do that unless you swipe right. Sophie's choice right here. Trust Me , a novice, swipe LEFT.
15. Penis pictures are not as frequent as advertised.

we talk a lot about kanye interrupting taylor’s speech at the VMAs so much that it’s become a meme but we never talk about the subsequent moment when bey won for video of the year and then invited taylor back onstage to finish her speech and it’s one of my favourite things ever
