Why create content just to email or post with no idea whether anyone out there in the world cares or not? Most marketing professionals know better, and any white papers, blogs & marketing material they so carefully create are made available with some sort of leadgen and activity tracking turned on.
Well, edocr has been offering this for years:
Tumblr media
And now that we are working hard on a complete rewrite & revamp of the site, and we want you too follow our progress on the beta site Myedocr (See previous post)
We plan to offer all of what we had before, plus new ways to ‘gate’ content, including ‘for sale’ & ‘subscriptions’.
Here is a glance of the stats available so far on my edocr:
Tumblr media
Please go visit us at my edocr**, but do note that edocr logins do not work on the beta site yet, as the databases are separate until late this year.
FEEDBACK, we want feedback! Please help us help you by getting your suggestions into our planning, via the edocr help desk.  Thanks, and stay tuned, a whole lot of things are happening very quickly!

“My” edocr beta released!
Fasten your seat belts edocr users, we have released the beta version of my.edocr! What we have been doing here at Accusoft over the last few months is adding all the existing edocr features to our older Prizm Share product, plus bringing in additional must have features, such as private, secure & ‘for sale’ settings for content, in such a way that we can ultimately bring all of these features over to edocr later this year. This will provide many more features to our business users of edocr. It was important to us to get our site to a single, supportable codebase while we continued to rapidly grow the users of the edocr service. We are proud to announce that over 50,000 new accounts have been created & close to 200,000 documents uploaded on edocr, since we purchased this property this past March.
What we will be doing on my.edocr over the next two months is adding additional requested features, many from docstoc users looking for a new home, and hardening the site, so that in December we can bring all of the new code to edocr in a seamless manner as a site upgrade. Our plan is to continue edocr as a B2B content marketing and leadgen site, while offering a more casual version for personal, private, small group, blogging users via the my.edocr service.  A teacher sharing documents to a classroom perhaps; or, a homeowners’ association or other small not-for profits maintaining its records for members to view, some public and most private.
The first major feature that you will see is embed. Now you may store your documents on my.edocr and drop our fantastic, mobile ready, responsive viewer right on your web site with the snippet of code we provide for the full size document view, or thumbnail with a link back to the my.edocr viewer.
So, if you are already an edocr user and want to test some of the new features on my.edocr before they are made available on edocr, go ahead and create a separate account for now, and our tech team will sort out at some point how to merge the accounts later.
edocr & my.edocr are committed to making your documents work harder for you every day!  If you build a great profile page, with links to social media and your website, you make our job of helping you so much easier!
Thanks again for your support! Comments and suggestions are appreciated!
Until next time, keep publishing!

And you won’t have to change your account in any way. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy unlimited uploads! It’s available NOW!
Make sure you add your website, email, twitter, facebook, and phone contact info so your documents point readers back to where you want them to go next.

Prior to March 1st, 2016 we will provide several free ways to continue the 10,000 document limit, including having your Profile Page properly set up when we update that feature later this year.  Stay Tuned!

Help us help you!
edocr benefits when publishers like you post all kinds of great content on our site and more and more people interact with that content. You, the publisher, benefit if your content is read and passed on, and readers follow your trail back to your website or reach out and contact you for your product or service.
edocr wants its publishers to have success from the content posted on our site, so we are busy looking for ways to bring added value to our publishers. One thing we notice is publishers are often not including contact information with the uploaded published material. Why make it harder for potential customers to find you? BUILD YOUR PROFILE to bring readers exactly where you want them to go.
In order to make this way more powerful, and allow our publishers to set up a profile once for multiple published documents, we are working on a new profile page concept.  Here is our current wireframe:

Text extraction added for all published documents
With our site upgrade earlier this week, edocr is now extracting all of the text out of every document published on our site and attaching it as a layer under the document that can be toggled by the reader. This content will allow viewers of published documents to access the text content of uploaded documents, facilitating screen readers and other assistive technologies. As an added bonus, this content can be more readily crawled and indexed by search engines, further enhancing the value of published documents as every word will now be searchable online.
The team at edocr want our publishers to receive maximum value from their document content, and this is another big way we are doing that.
Questions, comments & suggestions always welcome at our help desk.
Until next time!

Nice to meet you!
Hello from Accusoft, sorry this has taken us so long to update. We have been busy on edocr the last couple of months as I know you have noticed, and we have a lot more planned to do the next couple of months. Here are the major changes since we acquired edocr this past March, and stay tuned to this space for more exciting updates to come. Edocr & Accusoft are committed to making your documents work harder for you every day!
So, what have we done? First and foremost we made edocr free of charge! That won’t last forever, but we will prove how valuable our service is over the coming months, then have such reasonable pricing levels, no one should be unhappy - it will be a bargain or we won’t do it!
Increased document limits from 5 to 1000 for free accounts
Replaced Flash uploader with JavaScript-based one
Streamlined the account creation process (all non-required steps removed from workflow)
Improved the look of numerous pages on mobile browsers (site-wide responsive design)
Allow download of original source document instead of PDF only
Add support for image files (TIF, PNG, JPG; in addition to previously supported document formats)
Reduce the time before an uploaded document is available for public viewing (from ~2-3 minutes to a few seconds)
Ability to view leads from uploaded documents enabled for all users (previously a premium feature)
And, saving the best and most awesome feature for last:
Replaced legacy viewer with the Accusoft Cloud Services HTML5 viewer
We will do a much better job in the future on keeping you updated on what’s going on with edocr. Thanks for following this blog and for using edocr. And we always welcome feedback and suggestions.

Search further enhanced
Tumblr media
Search used to be a mess. It produced results of everything we had. Today, we are happy to announced that we split search results into Company, Documents and Users. This is just the start. We plan to improve the display of results further. Now go and Search, and do let us know what you think above this improvement.

Automatic publishing of comments
Until now comments you posted against documents were all manually approved. This resulted in undue long delays in getting your comments published.  Today, we took the step to allow automatic publishing of your comments. Whilst this is a positive move, we nevertheless expect a degree of spamming.  In order to combat this, we are planning to give you the ability to delete unwanted comments from your documents.

Tumblr media
Search now includes full results. Previously, for a period, we limited displaying only the documents of approved user accounts on search.  As part of liberalisation of edocr functionality, we removed this artificial lock yesterday.  Results are displayed in the order of:
First, documents of approved user accounts
Documents of all other user accounts
In the future, we may display documents of paid subscribers first, or even pay to be displayed first. As expected, we will let you know if and when this is implemented.

No more #NoFollow
Today, we removed "no follow" from document pages, which prevented Google and other search engines index documents belonging to large number of user accounts on edocr.com.  Previously, only documents of approved accounts were exposed to search engines for indexing.
