space heaters the best options?
I don't believe you wish to heat the room! That's the frequent fallacy. You want to feel warm. Am I correct? That means you want to absorbe more heat than you lose. But you gain and drop heat more rapidly by radiation than by conduction to the surrounding atmosphere. So you should aim to receive glowing heat (infra-red) as speedily as possible.
Ideally, all of surfaces (not the walls, ceiling, floor, etc. ), only their surfaces) need to warmer than body temperature. Then you feel warm although the atmosphere is still chilly. Because that is not usually practicable, try out a large-surface electrical radiant heater (not a 'radiator', that can be a misnomer, as it heats gradually by convection), which produces a warm surface almost instantly. It can have the form of a photo on the wall or hang as a massive world from the ceiling.
Sorry for the crappy non practical answers which are not answers but folks seeking to show off just how smart they are. Really. So, I come from a country where back in USSR the Authorities sent warm water via radiator pipes each winter to provide very fundamental (not so effective) heating. Soviets had all the natural resources in the Earth, so this system has been amazing. Input post-soviet Era with electricity department being in debt to other departments, so now they do not heat really well.
Long story short:To swiftly and immediately heat the space: acrylic radiator with a fan running. View, oil radiators are old school approaches which take a long time to warm and extended time to cool. Inside 20--30 minutes you'll feel the temp becoming warmer. If area isn't large (say little office or a summer space) - you can purchase one of those fast heaters (Amazon.com: Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat: Home & Toilet) this can offer heat for short period of days.
I wouldn't run this night. IF you can do this and you're looking for a long lasting solution, get a vent-free gas cooker. Instead the best is mix of several things. In case you need to sleep there, get an electric blanket or a heated mattress pad. In the morning you can turn on a fan heater or you can get something more permanent like this: Amazon.com: Optimus H-5511 Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater: Home & Toilet it works on infrared technology and can heat objects around you
