To define the real truth of our lives is a crucial obligation which devolves upon us all. If such a determination is not embodied in our political vision, we have no hope of restoring what is so nearly lost to us — the dignity of humanity.

Oh-ho Matty
They say misery loves company, but they say a lot of shit and most of it's stupid. In my experience, misery is darkness and company is light -- although I guess it depends on the company you keep. The company I kept was Matty. He's the best type of friend you could have. He'd tell you your writing was excellent when you thought it was shit. Then he'd write something that amazed you and say it was garbage. It's how I knew my writing wasn't horrible. He wasn't just being nice, he just had some of the same demons.
He and I, we don't suffer from the same thing, but we've got some of the same symptoms, the kind that can't be operated on. I'd drink so much coffee it would cause my teeth to grind but still want to go lie in bed. He'd have more energy, most days. It didn't matter much, we were both stuck in the mud.
I carry around anxiety like a backpack I can't take off, and I've seen him in it too. I can read myself in his words. I know how he's feeling even though dawn arrives 13 hours earlier where I am -- a biproduct of years of honesty.
So, for honesty's sake, I won't edit this one. I'll just leave it raw, send it out, and see what happens.
I just wanted to say, it's important to know you aren't the only person like you. You are the only you, but you aren't the only person who feels the way you feel. When you feel that way, you will always know that your misery has my company.
You don't have to feel like wet garbage. I know that you see an old cutting board when you look at yourself, but nobody else sees that. I don't see that.
Besides, I saw that lights on the Goodyear Blimp and it read, "Matty's a pimp"

(Some will say this is not the time. I disagree. This is the time when every mixed emotion needs to find voice.)
Since his arrest in January, 2011, I have known more about the events that began this spiral than I have wanted to know. Aaron consulted me as a friend and lawyer. He...

The Rich Enriched and the Poor Dead
Jean-Paul Sartre said, "When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die."
If we take a few steps back from that, we notice that it is one of a great number of problems the rich create. The elite are not stupid, they much smarter than we are because they don't believe their own propaganda -- they have access to the truth that they obscure from us. They only create problems that they can insulate themselves from.
For an example, let's take a look at the recent stock-market crash. While the poor majority  of the world suffered, the rich only saw their profits rise. That is why they continued on with their market-crashing activities, only this time with bailout money in their pockets and the confidence of knowing that they won't be held accountable. The fact that it caused a recession didn't bother them. A recession is when too much money is in too few hands, so really, a recession was their goal. Further recessions will continue to be their goal. This is why they run right-wing politicians in elections. The budgets won't be balanced, but they don't mind, they don't need government services. To them, the government is in the way. That is, unless they are the government, which they are in most of the world. In that case, the government will continue to have unbalanced budgets and low taxes on the rich.
Another example is global warming. While the rich profit from it, it is the poor who die in floods and hurricanes. The rich have other places to go when hurricanes destroy things, and when they come back they can easily rebuild. They probably profited from the hurricane, through insurance or other scams. They made money when people rushed to buy canned foods, when the poor have to buy new homes or new possessions.
If you look into it, the more you realize that the rich profit from your pain in many other ways. Prison populations rise despite crime-rates shrinking. People are no safer. Really, people are more in danger, as the police become the largest group of crime-committers. Their crimes go unchecked, the justice system continues to send innocent people to long-term prison sentences. Then, the prison population is forced to work for free, making helmets and uniforms for the armed forces. The rich profit when the armed forces are sent into war, which is almost all of the time.  And when the rich wage war, it's the poor who die.
