I'm actually obsessed with the way kim dokja's perspective on the world and people around him shifts over the course of the novel. His ruthlessness at the beginning - emphasised by his constant narration about how he's just using others - changing and becoming him willing to throw himself into danger for those he now wants to protect. How the characters (particularly those who play an antagonistic role) shift from one-note archetypes to real and complex people as he begins to see the nuances of humankind. The guilt we never see before that he suffers as a result of knowing the truth behind. The way in which this story he loves so much gradually makes him care more than he ever expected to because that seemingly cold and heartless exterior was a face he was forced to adopt in order to survive in his own ruined world.

Webtoon-only readers talk about the "doomed black and white duo" not knowing there's a third, equally as doomed element of the story sitting right under their noses

Absolutely fucked up how orv tells us so frequently about the importance of readers and how the story wouldn't end until the reader gave up on it. And then it's revealed that a version of kim dokja - who he was not long after he had started twsa - was the reason behind the scenarios. That's insane foreshadowing to me. A story can't properly exist without someone to read and interpret it. So of course the existence that made fiction reality is a reader. Kim dokja wanted the story to never end because it was his sole lifeline in a miserable existence. So it's a given that he unknowingly starts the scenarios just as he finishes the last chapter because he can't bear a reality without the constant support the novel gives him.

I once had someone tell me that if I wasn't aroace I'd be simping for kdj and I was like "what."

Trust me. Attractiveness doesn't even factor into my reasoning for why a character is my favourite. I would never simp for that man. It is so much deeper and nastier than that.

someone told me that kdj being my favourite character was a 'good choice' because 'he is hot' and i think that was one of the rare moments that i felt the kdj fragment in me rear its nondescriptive face
