It gives me the impression that Twitter users are less into GIFs and art and more into text/opinions. Tumblr has a "Filter by Post Type" on its Search that, when "Text" is selected, the result looks very similar to a Twitter-like UI, however it lacks of this functionality on the Home page.
I wonder if a UX study or some A/B testing would throw some insights on the pros/cons of having a Filter by Content Type on the Home. cc @photomatt @zingring
