picked up Hades on Switch b/c it was on sale and

b] my TLT brainrot is so powerful that i'm actually drawing comparisons btwn the structure of Hades and the pre-canon stuff on the Ninth that we hear about in Gideon. its like Hades trying to escape Tartarus iteratively thru repeating similar processes over and over is kinda like Gideon never giving up on escaping the Ninth presumably thru similar iterative processes but b/c most of Gideon's escape attempts take place before the first book picks up there isnt much concrete there. but it makes sense 2 me idk

Not to be on some @thanergetic-hyperlinks shit, but uh...I love that John would absolutely do a fucked up version of the Pretty procedure from the Uglies series on his own daughter.

In, Nona The Ninth when John talks about what inspired him to make Alecto look the way she does, he expresses disgust for a doll at his Nana's house that has a weird hair cut. To do this to his own kid is weird. On brand though, because the last time he called someone his kids, it was corpses he puppeteered around. Corpses that are heavily implied to Ulysses and Titania, saints that served him (which implies that he forced Ulysses to kill Titania, his "sister").

Also, that John is a massive example of the results of a "Good" Man of Color not having unpacked the misogyny and white supremacy he grew up with before the Resurrection. There is an essay in me about the fact that the most prevalent "resurrection beast" in the series is white supremacy and misogyny, but I need time to cook. Because the essay is long and it is thick.
