I wrote a crude parser for AsciiMath formulas to be able to get some Fourier series art from wolframalpha and draw them on oscillosope.
Here is the Konata Izumi-like curve :3 (not mine)

DIY FT232 3 Channel R2R DAC
In previous post i mentioned some updates in hardware.
Here i show schematic and explain how it works:

I recently updated hardware side of my DIY DAC, now it can output up to 6.66 million dots per second instead of about 1.5 million on previous version. Testing by drawing some memes using raster scan skipping black pixels passed successfully.

Trying to achieve shades of “gray” in storage mode. Some spots on the storage grid in CRT is very worn out so does not hold charge long enough.

I bought x2 lens for my phone camera so the control knobs on oscilloscope look less stretched out on the photos. Tested it during shooting the beautiful Gadget Hackwrench. See also my DSLR optics test here.
(btw in CIS and ex-USSR we call her “Гаечка, the soft form of ”Nut”. By the word Nut here i mean little hexagonal things screwed by a wrench)

Finaly figured out how to use digital filters and 4 channel audio in NAudio library. Drew something using two line outs on my soundcard.
To get best picture i used two filters - low shelf to boost low frequencies because they are cut by coupling capacitors at the output, and low pass filter based on impulse response and convolution to eliminate the Gibbs effect which can be seen as "hairy" ends of the lines. Last two photos demonstrating resulting picture with and without filters respectively.
4 channels is used because i also want to use beam brightness modulation (Z channel of oscilloscope)

Some DSO stuff. This is done using VGA port, video mode 640x480@60. One of the VGA color channels outputing vertical sweep combined with blanking signal. Blanking signal moves the beam to the top (anywhere out of frame basically) when black pixel appears in the source picture, so the same spot on oscilloscope screen is also appears black since it is not lighten by the beam. The same technique will also work on analog oscilloscope.

And this is how it looks with so-called Digital phosphor on Rigol DS1202Z-E.

Trying to achieve smooth light using some lamps and A4 paper. This is how i do it for vector images since mid 2021. Works acceptable.

Video
youtube
I noticed that old devices such as VHS players and cameras have AC coupled composite output, but modern Smart TV boxes or DVB-T2 TV tuners are outputing composite video as is, with its DC component, so the sync pulses are at zero level and brightness is not affected.
