I couldn't stop thinking about their flames from Hitman Reborn and sorted them

No, not all the leaders are Skies to make it easy, but some did end up being Skies anyway

Ichika- Sky, Saki- Mist, Honami- Storm, Shiho- Lightning

Minori- Sky, Haruka- Rain, Airi- Sun, Shizuku- Mist

Kohane- Rain, An- Sun, Akito- Storm, Touya- Cloud

Tsukasa- Sky, Emu- Sun, Nene- Rain, Rui- Cloud

Kanade- Cloud, Mafuyu- Mist, Ena- Storm, Mizuki- Lightning

So this is an idea, I gave no idea if a similar one hasn't been voiced elsewhere but there should be Ocean Flames to counter balance Sky and Earth Flames.

Whereas Earth Flames give one domain over Gravity and Sky Flames over Harmony, I think Ocean Flames should give one domain over Freedom as the sea is a place that is unbound while having a vicious nature to remind humanity that it is still free.

While Storm Flames bestow Disintegration and Swamp Flames give Fermentation, I think Lagoon* Flames should give the effect a Neutralization as a counter to its opposites.

The next one is tricky, as while Rain Flames are known to give Tranquility to its users, its counterpart is unnamed and mostly unrepresented. Thus, I will dub the unnamed Flames of the Earth type as Island Flames* and give it domain over Disturbance to be the opposite of Rain Flames. Now, the Ocean Flames counter to Rain and Island Flames will be Tide Flames, their domain being over the concept of Flow.

While Sun Flames give their users access to Activation and Forest Flames give access to Realization, I think it's only fair that Reef Flames give access to Growth.

Lightning Flames create Hardening while Mountain Flames create Tuning, so I suggest that Maelstrom* Flames create Destruction*.

So on to the edgiest ones beginning with Mist Flames and their Construction while Desert Flames have their Hallucinations, as such Abyss/al Flames have their control over Darkness

This leaves the final ones with Cloud Flames' Propagation and Glacier Flames' Freezing, which leads to Hurricane* Flames' Rotation*.

So there it is, my Flames of the Ocean Idea.

The violent urge to put flame compatibility into a Hetalia fic because I'm dying for a Sky!Arthur with his Mist!Feliciano and just Feliciano doing the asking for other elements of the sky because Arthur thinks he doesn't need anyone else but a Sky is meant to be filled 😤

Or or or

A Sky!Feliciano who's Storm!Arthur doesn't like sharing his Sky with someone else unless they have defeated him in battle but also he has issues with other Flame-Users because he thinks they're too annoying even though his Sky is the one going everywhere and meeting people

OR

Both of them are Skies and Feliciano is a War Sky who would do anything to return home to his Home Sky!Arthur and they have their own set of guardians and I'm crying because it's either one big poly family or one big found family and I really really wanna write this because KHR beloved

So don’t know what to do with this but I was thinking about what khr flame types the ASolF people would have and realised that the Stark kids have most of a guardian group. Like there’s a few that don’t quite fit but if you include Theon and look at it right you can make a full set. Which becomes sure tragic when you think about how they all shatter apart and/or die.

Jon is the Sky. Maybe a Cloudy Sky - He’s a natural leader and spends loads of time trying to create harmony between the free folk and the watch.

Arya the Cloud. Strong, independent, willfull and impossible to cage or control. Sure sounds like a Cloud to me.

Sansa is a clear Mist. She looks sweet but knows full well how to manipulate.

Rob is the Rain. This ones a little more of a toss up but looking at how he manages his siblings I think he fits the Rain mold. Maybe with a little something else mixed in.

Rickon - Storm. We don’t know much about him but what we do know is that he’s wild. Therefore I’m going with storm until further notice.

Bran. Sun/Mist . Now this is where it gets tricky. I spent a bit of time debating what would fit Bran best because he’s very difficult to pin down but based on what I remember of him pre-fall I’m going with the idea that he was a Sun but shifted to more of a Misty Sun/Sunny Mist due to the fall and awakening his greenseer abilities. Sort of like how Lal’s flames break and go from Rain to Mist/Cloud.

And lastly Theon. Now in order to make a full set you’d need to make Theon a Lightning and I could see a case for this, (Thinking of Gamma’s sort of Lightning here.) But I could also see a case for some other flame types or him having a bunch of them. So I’m willing to be persuaded otherwise.

Don’t really have any plans for this but I thought I should put it down and throw it to the void just to get it out there. If someone wants to use this then feel free and let me know when you’re done. And If you want to talk about other characters hit me up.

If VLD characters had flames...

Let’s just say that VLD characters have flames.

Shiro would be the sky, he’s the guardian of the sky on his official bio.

Keith would be a storm, because he’s guardian of heat (I read somewhere once that storm flames are the hottest flames) , and impulsive af (isn’t that why the red lion chose him though?) .

Lance would be a rain, he’s the guardian of water guys. 

Now here comes the hard part, there’s nothing really defining Pidge, Hunk, Allura, and Coran’s flames.

Pidge I think, would be a lightening or sun type. Maybe sun as her primary flame and lightening as her secondary flame? I can see her using her sun flames to power any robot that she made if there wasn’t a source around, or she just wants to feel like a mother in a way.

Hunk might be a lightening because his lion has so much armor to protect his family from harm without getting himself hurt to badly. Hunk honestly confuses me a little. I know that he would be a lightening but his colors seem to be a lot like sun colors, right? So which is it? Lightening or sun?

Allura could fit the role of a cloud. Don’t clouds usually have a lot of authority? Well she’s a princess of a whole race, the only royal mind you. She also commands the paladins very well. She could also be a sky now that I think about it.

Coran, I imagine, would one, have weak flames, and two have mist flames. Although he has weak flames he can still make some impressive holograms or projections when needed. Even though using his flames take a lot out of him.

These are all probably nonsense but these are just my opinions!

hey, could I ask your headcanons as to what personality traits correspond with each flame type? if it's not too much bother?

It’s not a bother at all! It’s just….. not going to be very coherent? because i’m a little uncomfortable with straight up assigning personality types to flames. I feel like there are thing that a lot of users of a flame have in common, but it probably expresses in a variety of very different ways. Also, a lot of this really only applies to people’s primaries, though I could possibly form a more complete theory of personality through application of people’s secondaries and tertiaries.

Also, I’m just doing Sky-type because the sample size for Earth-type is way too small for this kind of analysis. 

So, here’s what I have.

Storm: stubbornness, intractability, focus

Prominent Storm Users: Belphegor, Rasiel, Hayato, Bianchi, FonThey all have things they’re focused on, in terms of goals, the people around them, what they’re doing. They’re all pretty much impossible to sway from that focus–Belphegor cannot be stopped from his claim of royalty and enforcing it. Fon makes his choices in combat and refuses to be swayed regarding their wisdom or usefulness. Hayato picks to focus on Tsuna and will not be wooed away, no matter the evidence.,

Sky: people person

Prominent Sky Users: Xanxus, Tsuna, Byakuran, Dino, GiottoAHAHA yes, Skies are so into people. I see you looking at Xanxus and Byakuran with question marks above your head, but they really are! I’m not sure I’m into the idea that a Sky is always pulling in Guardians, because Dino, but Skies collect people! They’re good at that. But that’s not what I mean by “people person,” though I wouldn’t be surprised if most Skies were extroverts by nature. The thing about Skies though, is that they tend to enforce their will on the world through other people. This shows up differently in, say, Dino and Byakuran, though. Dino’s expression of this fits in with how his subordinates being around makes him a competent human. He’s dependent on others to allow himself to act. Byakuran, on the other hand, prefers to work through intermediaries because it’s more interesting that way. Still, both of them use people as a method of enforcing their will.

Sun: energy, points of obsessive interest

Prominent Sun Users: Reborn, Ryohei, Irie, Lussuria, DaisyWow, these make a really good case for traits expressing in a wide range of ways! I know it sounds weird to say that energy/obsession applies to someone like Reborn as much as it does Ryohei, but it really does! Ryohei expresses himself very straightforwardly. Reborn doesn’t. But consider how much work clearly goes into his costumes, and how much he knows about various topics, or how successful he was as a hitman. All of that point to meticulous, almost obsessive attention to detail! Reborn has a better handle on all the energy he’s got running around, and he’s not as straightforward as any of the others on the list, but he’s definitely a Sun!

Lightning: loyalty

Prominent Lightning Users: Verde, Levi, Lambo, GammaWhile loyalty is primarily considered to be about the bond between people, it can also tie someone to an idea, or an institution, or something else. This is how I bridge Verde (who clearly doesn’t care about anyone else) with Levi and Lambo. It also puts Gamma neatly in the middle. He’s not prone to the obsessive personal loyalty that Levi and Lambo have, but he’s not into the pure intellectual loyalty Verde has for his experiments and theories. Instead he hits a nice middle ground of more natural loyalty, but he’s still presented primarily in terms of that loyalty. Gamma’s devotion to his Family, and his Bosses, is definitely impressive, and it’s clearly a guiding trait of his character.

Rain: internal balance

Prominent Rain Users: Takeshi, Lal Mirch, Basil, Squalo, ColonelloThis is probably the weirdest one. But I think that Rains have very defined ideas about who they are and what their place in life is. Basil is “Iemitsu’s apprentice, part of the CEDEF”. Squalo is “Xanxus’ subordinate, Varia 2IC”. This is not necessarily a positive thing. A Rain’s internal picture may be totally wrong, and this can lead to some serious problems. See, Takeshi’s breakdown over baseball. It upsets his internal balance, his sense of this is what I am. So the trait is both constructive and destructive. (Also, Rains aren’t calm, get that bs out of your head and take a look at Lal. They are, however, very much at peace with themselves, which can fake calm to someone who’s not looking.)

Cloud: defiance

Prominent Cloud Users: Kyouya, Skull, KikyoClouds are generally cast as not being into people, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be true? Skull clearly likes people, and Kikyo seems pretty happy riding herd on the Funeral Wreaths. In fact, even Kyouya has his DC/Foundation. So I think it’s not so much that they don’t like people as that they hate being told what to do. This also fits all three of our prominent users in really well–Skull’s actually the perfect example. He does stunt work, and when all his shit comes due, he’s like “nah, gonna keep going.” Defiance at its finest. He’s not a combat veteran like his fellow Arcobaleno, but I’d bet he’s about the strongest Cloud on the planet.

Mist: secretive, deceptive

Prominent Mist Users: Mukuro, Chrome, Kawahira, Fran, MammonOkay, as much as I like to think of Mists being creative types, I think that the big thing they have is that they’re such secretive bastards. They like to keep things under their hat, they dislike people knowing things about them, they shroud their motivations, histories and lives in as much misinformation as they possibly can. They’re difficult to read properly, and they often react badly to people pulling out truths about their natures, or about their pasts. They also tend to like to know things, especially if no one else does.

Naruto himself is a Sky, obviously. He is accepting and a natural born leader. There is a core in him, that people feel and respect, so I don't think that there's other options.

I thought that she may be a Storm, but just as destructive, she might be just as healing. There is a big Sun in her.  Very strong physically, healer and desire to destroy any treat to her family

Sasuke is a typical Cloud. Distant, freakishly strong and independent. Tried to cut all his bonds and you see how it ended.But even after returning to the village he still doing his own thing from the outside.

My first thought was – Mist: misleading and artistic. But he has some traits of the Rain, drained by Root, but learning to return in his own skin. He is very perspicacious and tends to care about his teammates emotional state.

He is a hard one, but probably a Cloud too. Just an older and wiser one. Might have multiple flames like Lightning and/or Rain.

I can't see him as a certain type of Sky flame. He is more like 50/50 Sun/Rain combo, or straight up Forest. It's actually has much more sense for him to have one of the Earth flames.

Been thinking about Reborn the last 24 hours or so, and I’m still mad about the Earth Flames not being fully, properly explained

Worse, just to see if maybe Akira Amano stepped up and explained it like…I don’t know, on twitter or some shit, I checked the wiki, and someone found the descriptions of the Flames on the Japanese wiki

The Mountain Flame’s ability is “Tuning”, which…I assume has something to do with how it compresses disparate minerals into single objects? 

And the Forest Flame’s ability is…”Realization”…what in fuck does that mean? That sounds more like the Desert Flame’s ability, how is that relevant to the Forest Flame?

It controls plants and has a sharp quality to it, what is that “realizing”??? What is that making real???

What the FUCK is Kaoru’s Flame?!

these are maybe kind of obvious, low-hanging-fruit assertions, but i thought this’d be fun to discuss, and it’s a starting point, so

avengers Flames of Sky types

first of all. guys. Fury is a Sky. scary thought i know.

Bruce Banner is actually a Sun i think,

Thor is Lightning, for all that’s way too easy,

Natasha is a Mist,

Steve is a Cloud (u kno he is),

Barton is a Rain, 

so if Stark is a Storm, then the original avengers actually make a full set. 

Some of these are pretty tentative though. anyway by all means join me by disagreeing or by adding more characters, both of those options sound fun

Alright, everyone!

Let’s have some fun.  With the help of the lovely @chimeric-civetta, there has been a document made to record flames.  The information will be compiled later to try to develop some statistics.  You can record anonymously on there if you like.
