A Dying Warrior Will Show the Way: Chapter One.
Gorsepaw goes on a hunting patrol with Brambleclaw, and some feelings of unease begin to ripple through her fur.
Chapter 2 should be up by this time next week, depending on how much time I have to write it.

Chapter One of A Dying Warrior Will Show the Way
Firestar’s four kits have reached their sixth moon, and today they will become apprentices.
This chapter is a prologue and is mostly just to introduce the new kits. The story begins afterwards.

What if Squirrelflight and Leafpool were not the kits that Firestar and Sandstorm had?
A Dying Warrior will Show the Way is an AU of The New Prophecy I had made back in middle school. I had all but forgotten about it until I came across an old flash drive with some files about it.
I read over my old writing and remembered just how much I had planned out for this. So I began to rewrite it.
A retelling of the New Prophecy, in a universe where Leafpool and Squirrelflight were never born, instead replaced by four kits.
When the Clans finally decide to leave their territories behind, Mudfur dies in RiverClan territory, leading Firestar, Leopardstar, Blackstar, and Tallstar to lead the journeying cats across RiverClan territory, in the opposite direction of what should have become the Lake Territories.
The rewrite consists of interchangeable narratives of the new kits, alongside the other prophecy cats in each different book.
What I am writing now is book one, being told by the following:
Gorsepaw: Firestar’s first born kit, a fawn-caramel tortie, who only wants to make an impression on the Clan that she can be a good warrior on her own, without living in her fathers shadow.
Hawkpaw: Firestar’s fourth born, a brown and white tabby Tom, and the ring of the litter. He was often sickly and was near death twice. Only under the care of Cinderpelt and the careful but stern mentoring of Brightheart will he live to reach his goal of being a warrior.
Both these characters accompany Brambleclaw on the journey to the Sun-Drown-Place.
The other books will be narrated by Crowpaw, Feathertail, Tawnypelt, and Brook Where Small Fish Swim, but not in that order or all at once.
Chapter two has been posted, and expect about a chapter a week, but you can read what has been posted here!
