█ ▌ ❃ ┈ “You should never dismiss your own opinions so easily, my lady, even if they’re not ones which I can take advise from. You sound as though you speak from experience, were you once in a similar situation?”
“Yes quite similar.” Arwen replied with a slight laugh which was quickly stopped by her tongue. “A childhood friend at that. But somehow the grace of God spared me.”

“And when is anything ever that simple? Actions always have repercussions, perhaps not right away but eventually deeds always catch up to us and I care enough about my family not to be that selfish. Tis not only I whom is to gain from this marriage.”
“No need to steam your ears for my sake madam. Tis only an opinion. A foolish one at that, I know. But it seems that no matter how hard I try repercussions do not serve much of a worry rather then the sanity of my being. I would rather live now and run as the deeds attempt to catch up.”

“A silly thing but also a necessity in this world if we wish to survive. Which category do you fall into?”
“Then it seems as if the rumors had not reached Denmark I suppose. Well considering I ran away to my ultimate doom the last time I was betrothed I presume tis would land me in the second category. And you dear friend?”

“To watch as the happy couples ride into the sunset and laugh knowing that they are doomed to tolerate each other.”

“But tis a silly thing indeed...betrothal. Some die for it and others fall sick from the idea.”
“I am sure nobody shall judge you for not joining in, we all need our time to grieve, so take all the time you need.”

“If duty was meant to be enjoyable then it would not be called something which implies otherwise.”
“Duty or not, tis what society says to be right. But who are we if not society. Chose what your duty is for you must do only what gives you breath.”

Arwen looked up in shock. Not expecting to see such a face in the slightest. But alas her mood was too dim to make a remark or even begin to stir the hate that fired not too long ago. She simply looked up with sulky eyes and imagined the pain the King must be going through having it all happen within his own walls. “Yes, he had visited my home many times on duty. I was only little but could still remember the cake he had brought along which I ultimately devoured. Quite a nice gesture from France I might add.” She released a small laugh. “Be sure to catch him Sire. Danger is always around, but becomes a threat when makes itself shown.”
“You knew the Duke?” Tristan asked, quirking a brow ever so slightly as his solemn composure shifted. The blonde guest that passed by him was such a spritely figure, even seeing her fire seem to dim with the tragedy made the king feel a sense of failure for not keeping his friend safe from harm. “You should not fear, my lady, my royal guard is due to catch the culprit. He lived as lively and abruptly as he passed.”

“But the goal is to make such a thing into a liking, not a duty. It cannot be all so bad?”
“Duty is duty whether we like it or not.”

“Yes we cannot deny the men their meat, I just have terrible memories of hunting expeditions with my father. The thought of dying turkeys had haunted me ever since...”
“Would you prefer the thought of the castle going without enough meat for everyone? I’m sure there are quite a few who would complain at only having bread and fruit.”

“Oh hurry up now!” Arwen exclaimed, picking up her silk cloths and running through the garden. “The rain won’t last forever!”
“Slow down, would you? I can’t keep up in this dress!”

“Yes, they call us foolish once we lose and a quick mind when we win. Mine as well remember this day and chose a side.” Arwen replied, placing the deck upside down upon the table. “So what shall you chose my Lady, red or black?”
“It takes a foolish man or woman to take part in an afternoon bet.” Freja smirked, “And yet what are we to do cooped up here, than have a bit of risk?”
