Nintendo
Nintendo’s biggest advantage is its library of games, along with it’s memorable character list. Over the gradual beginning of Nintendo’s reign on the industry, the games that were being produced had the most notable traits that would culminate into customers’ high demand. Nintendo would have games customers and designers alike would remember for decades to come.  From this surfaced many lawsuits and legal battles Nintendo would have to fight for the years to come.
Nintendo has been battling legal cases for decades now.  The lawsuits will never end while new innovative gaming experiences will always shape the “cutting edge” in the industry. For instance; in Louisiana 2001, a woman sued Nintendo for her 30 year-old son’s death. Her son, Benjamin bought a Nintendo 64 and purchased 11 games for it.  For 6 hours a day, 6 days a week he played. While he played, he developed seizures, and in 2001 his 6th seizure was the worst yet.  It had caused him to hit his head on the table, and suffer internal injuries.  While such lawsuits are personal and understandable, Nintendo was ready for such cases. In the very beginning of startup for their games, the games initiate a brief warning that a small percentage of people are prone to seizures while playing and everyone should rest after each hour of gameplay.
However, there were different kinds of lawsuits and legal battles Nintendo battled. Legal actions involving the litigation between Universal Studio, The state of NY and MD, and even Atari were pivotal events that landmarked video game history and proved how far the innovation of the industries companies have come since then.  Unfortunately in some cases, the companies battling against Nintendo in court have not only been defeated but have dissipated over time. Atari, after reverse engineering a key component of Nintendo’s architecture as to bypass their own product so that the customer may play it on the Nintendo system, dissolved as a company shortly after the court proceedings.  Nintendo took the opportunity to shine briefly before having to deal with Sega and its formidable game library. Despite numerous advances of Nintendo’s generous customer base and overall sales, other companies found means of prosperity over the years once Nintendo firmly established themselves in the industry.
