George two weeks after Paul's interview says this:
And the rest of it really seems to make it to be all about a problem with running their company, which is really stupid that you have to ruin all of this for nothing, my gosh. I'll have to read more about that in depth though, because the interviews don't help.
BUT (again), this extract just makes it clear that NONE OF THEM wanted the band to end!!! UGHHHHHH I am so maddddd
George saying John and Paul are bitchy towards each other is So Right. "Quiet Beatle" but when he talks about his mates, he's correct.
And then he addresses his musical conflict with Paul:
I've been reading some interviews of The Beatles around 1969 - 1970 today. It's interesting to read that they apparently split between October and November of 1969, but it was only Paul McCartney in his interview from April 1970 to tell it to the world, and yet...
I hate this because I always thought this interview would have Paul say: "The Beatles are broken up forever so there's no hope for that anymore" and instead he just says: "We'll see what happens." So I Guess I would have been like those directioners saying "They're just on hiatus" until this very day.
BUT he literally says he's "not done with the Beatles" and sure, he talks about differences, but he doesn't state anything permanent. I guess the papers titled it "Paul quits the Beatles" or "Beatles are over" and everyone in the band rolled with it afterwards. If they weren't serious about it they'd all have said.
That negative response to "Do you foresee a time when Lennon-McCartney becomes an active songwriting partnership again?" is heartbreaking because just eleven months earlier (probably right after or while recording Abbey Road) John had said this:
And about the Beatles splitting George said in October 1969:
While John said in December 1969:
#i think i'm almost getting over the beatles splitting btw. took me 4 years (and also 55 years but i was not alive then)#the beatles#george harrison#still my post#i love george a lot but the people he kept around him in this period a little less... he seems like he was a good soul though </3#between the other interview to george in 69 and this one he does keep complimenting paul's songs though. i am quite fond of their friendshi#and yet i absolutely understand where he is coming from when he says that you wish your friends changed with you-#but they might change away from you and that's really sad.

me in 2012: i like muse but all the political stuff is a little exaggerated. things aren’t that crazy anymore, for the most part. we’ve learned from our past mistakes. bad things still happen a lot, but life for a lot of the world life is pretty stable most of the time.
me in 2017: oh god matt bellamy was right

every so often some writer will show up to GMMTV like, I have a show with this character who's deeply problematic, pretty much unlikeable from the very start, he'll have half your audience protesting because they don't even give him a chance...
and then Krist emerges out of the shadows: "this show is getting made and that part is mine."
