Op you're so right!!!! R2-D2's and C3-PO's is one of the closest, greatest friendships I've witnessed. They support each other through thick and thin, even when C3-PO forgets basically everything. Star Wars: Droids further shows just how special their friendship is. C3-PO even says his life is boring without R2, and when R2 gets destroyed, C3-PO is willing to give parts of his own body, just to ensure R2 will be able to get repaired, so he can once again be with his best friend. They care about each other so much, despite all the bickering and insults towards each other. (That and C3-PO is an underappreciated character in general)

I don’t think we discuss R2D2 and C3PO’s friendship enough like. 3PO had his memory erased. he has does not remember being built by Anakin. he has no memory of Anakin’s transformation. he does not know Vader is his dad. he has no clue Luke is his brother. but R2 knows all of this and knows that 3PO had his memory wiped because no one trusted him to keep quiet, and R2 looks out for him. R2 reconnects him with his brother. even though C3PO doesn’t know! they may bicker but R2D2 loves his anxious disaster of a droid friend!
