its been so long im sorry I disappeared off the face of the earth, school, work, and depression have been beating my ass BAD (I feel like I say this SEVERAL times a year). but I drew this right now while avoiding school work. Also I've been kind of working on side characters and story-related stuff. This is just a silly doodle but i honestly just need to make more silly things so I can be making SOMETHING. Also Martin would b into hardcore methinks

last one b4 i go mimis- everything's a mess rn I'm throwing spaghetti at a metaphorical wall hoping something sticks. But this would be from around the end of the first 1/3 mayhaps...at a point where everyone's comfortable w each other and there's Cindy, who's Martin's mom!! :-) They were at Martin and Cindy's apartment hanging out before a meet. Also Cindy isn't rlly aware of the shady ass vibe otherwise she'd probably b more hesitant to let her kid go LMFAO

yeah, Victor fucked up his first major impression BADLY but at least it was a memorable one???? This takes place after Amelda initially meets Victor and Martin but before they're like....actually friends. honestly don't know if i wanna make this actually happen but it made me laugh while drawing it.....

New ref but I rlly like the format of these mini sheets better since the focus is on the image rather than being just bombarded by a long ass paragraph- but yeah some shit i straight up just made up bc this is an AU and I'm filling in gaps on my own. Most notable thing is that Amelda is going thru a rlly bad self-destructive streak in regard to all facets of his life (he's on a downward spiral u might say....)- but at the same time, he's learning how to make serious connections both positive and negative- and how to navigate these new relationships. A majority of Drifter is about relationships and how everyone is tangled in a web of both genuine love n compassion and also vile toxicity stemming from pain

Finally, after months, i got around to fixing martin's design. Seems v minor but now he has more of a babyface to match his personality and less hair :-) ((also his absent dad is first-gen american- w HIS fam being from Jalisco))

Today is my birthday and I decided to update my character references for Victor and Martin!!! The last ones were very cluttered so i thought it would b better to make them easier to read (and bc my art has improved since i last did a ref)

I've been piecing together the story of Drifter since the end of last February- so for almost a whole year now! Before I even started working on the characters or story, I thought it would be a good idea to make a playlist to get a feel for the tone and energy I wanted to set and have been updating it every so often. It has been such fun working on this playlist and getting to come back to it for inspiration every so often. I know I don't post much but this concept really means a lot to me both personally and artistically and I cannot wait to finally try and get my shit together in order to properly execute it (that was actually my resolution for this year LMFAO) <3

Her team is technically called "The House of Salzar" but everyone else just calls them "The Salzars", and at the beginning of the story, they start a turf war with Enzo's group. Once I finish her team, I'll be close to finished with the (major) characters

Another character in the works! Her name is Dimitra and her whole vibe is telenovela romantic rival meets evil stepmom. I'll do the whole character profile in a bit/maybe tomorrow but for now here she is

I think I wanna throw whatever illustrations I do for this comic on here too! These three mostly hangout during the evening to late night since they have different things they need to do during the day (Martin works for Enzo’s shop, Amelda has courses w professors coming to the Kaiba manor ((which is where he’s staying)) and Victor sometimes does violin lessons out of his sister’s apartment)

Testing page!! The rest of these bad boys r gonna be in b&w, but i decided to do this first one in (partial) color. The story isn’t gonna start here, but I thought it was a nice place to try and start w the actual comic making process :)

I figured I should start off with character profiles!! This comic is an AU that follows Amelda after the end of the Duel Monsters anime (not just s4 but like alllll of DM). He accidently joins an illegal street racing group while staying with Seto and makes friends! :-)
