Today I bring to you a theory/headcanon/thingy.

Celestia and Novo are exs and skystar is their daughter.

Around thirty years ago, Celestia Attempted to become allies with Mount Aris. Equestria seemed stable enough, maybe it was time to see what the rest of the world was doing. This is how she met Novo.

The two ended up falling for each other. Normally, Celestia would never marry, knowing she'd out live her lover. But when Novo Proposed she said yes. She adored her. (+ the Political benefit were great sooooo)

They got married at mount aris.

The two still spent most of their time in their respective kingdoms, but often came to visit each other.

And eventually, they had an egg. But before it could hatch, Celestia was called back to equestria for some kind of emergency. That's when the storm king attacked. By the time Celestia could get back, the Hippogriffs were no where to be found.

Both she and Novo were heart broken. Novo specifically felt betrayed by Tia for not being there when her kingdom needed her.

Sky star hatched months later. Never getting to meet her mother. Until....

Until the events of the movie. After that the two Queens reunited and talked things out. And Sky star got to meet her mom.
