Chi-Chi's death scene in canon annoys me to no end; it’s so fast and lacking in emotion, but the context itself is So grim to me. Like.. for a brief time, Goten was the only member of his family left alive. Which is a pretty shattering revelation for anyone—let alone a six year old.
(Thankfully Piccolo's had a lot of character development since he was last in this position)
Bonus: everyone else's reactions lol

This scene is fifty times funnier if Goten and Trunks are depicted as the heights they’re supposed to be.

the fathers side of the family is always weird
Bulla and Trunks have one set of grandparents who watch cartoons with them in their downtime and make them chicken nuggets after school & another set of grandparents who orchestrated multiple genocides and sold their father to an intergalactic dictator when he was six. And I think that’s very funny.

The scene in Dragonball Super when Goku reenacts the last time he saw his Grandpa was a scene that took me by surprise when I recognised what it was he was doing.
Just goes to show how much love and attention to detail Toei Animation put into the series.
Dragonball is so well loved, even 40+ years later, and I'm sure it'll continue to be for many more generations.

I created this about a decade ago to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dragon Ball for a print show. Loved the series as a really young child overseas in Japan, and then got to see it dubbed in the US a few yrs later after we moved. RIP Akira Toriyama. 💔
