'Who's decision was it to line an alleyway with tons of shrubs?'
Are the audience people with the Gift? Does it matter?
If Trail to Oregon is accurate in that the audience is part of the story, then I'm inclined to say that those watching StarKid do have magic/control of their stories,
So what? This is true of any art, any art relies upon the observer to make it worth it, to make it have meaning,
In Black Friday we are the ones purchasing the tickets, buying the doll, we make StarKid make the productions.
Starkid have a Gift, maybe we should open it.

Holloway and Hidgens, is there a connection?
Holloway used to perform professionally and still plays music, Hidgens wants to professionally create a musical.
Holloway is obsessed with the 80s and is 'stuck' there aesthetically, Hidgens began preparing in the 80s (30 years before TGWDLM) for the apocalypse, and so accelerates past it.
A more subtle idea -> Holloway was the one to warn Hidgens in the 80s about the future, telling him to prepare.
maybe tenuous, maybe more?

Questions and theories after re-watching the Killer Track.
Needless to say, spoilers (and also mildly for the rest of NMT 1 & 2)
Question -> 1986 Foxbody mustang vs 1987 Pontiac firebird, why do these cars have such similar creation dates? is there something else we don't know about Jane? - Jane was a therapist, Holloway is a counsellor, perhaps not a coincidence?
Theory -> Mrs Holloway is a child of the church of the starry children. they're a cult, and indoctrinate their children into it (Daddy and Honey Queen) my theory is that Mrs Holloway came to Hatchetfeild as a child, was put under some ritual by the church (we see such an image in the Black Book) and so then has a 'deal' and 'job' relating to the black and white. She reports this and causes the raid on the church that happens in the 80s (date from the wiki but we do know it happens) and so then makes a deal with webby, just as Wilbur did with the LiB (Witch in Web)
Question -> is the KT to do with Pokey, or something/one else? the evolving songs in TGWDLM suggests some thoughtfulness in the songs, but the 'sadistic' element of killing everyone is a much more Blinky thing to do, and the predator suggests Nibbly. Perhaps it is the latent consciousness from the destruction of Perky's buds, who knows?
Theory -> Willabella was not evil. The description in Witch the Web is quite disparaging for her, but in KT we see the content of the Black Book. On the opening page is 'you are a fool to seek the black and white' suggesting a warning of a kind. The contents page has red words (partially obscured by the hands) but they say 'help me thwart ... in the black ... wants me to ...' This suggests to me she was turned to help the LiB, and did not always help them.
Question -> how powerful is music? the KT can kill as can Pokey's harmonics, Mrs Holloways music can cause people to forget even that, and Hannah also uses music to remember - just as Pokeys music in TGWDLM causes people to exposit who they are.
Theory -> Mrs Holloway speeds Duke's amnesia. we see him remember her clearly many times, but after the fireworks he forgets she was even there, she wants a less saddening end for him, so eases him out and makes him forget.
Question -> is 'the slaughtered pig' a reference to Nibbly?

There are monsters and there are men - a warning of false binaries
Spoilers for Black Friday (BF) and nightmare time (NMT) to do with Mrs Holloway and Hannah (the Witch in the web (WIW) killer track (KT))
I am just trying to work through some thoughts I had, this may bloom into a theory but at the moment it is a splurge.
Listen to the lyrics of 'Monsters and men' and you will hear only those two categories; monsters and men. We know that the hatchet men planted those with the gift as they were associated with Willabella Muckwab who worked with the Lord in Black (LIB) who are monsters.
However Hannah/Lex have the gift, and are shown to be good. The gift would suggest monster, but later in BF, we see McNamara help lex to use the gift - suggesting non-monstrous intent.
From the WIW we know either Holloway or Wiley win in this set of fractured universes, and we also know there is black and white, lords in black and webby, monsters and men. The LIB are presented as monsters, as black (evil, a terrible linguistic fault in English) as Wiley's side. webby is presented as white, as good, and so necessarily on Mrs Holloway's.
I think that the Lang's would solve this in a ying-yang style equilibrium of balance of good and bad (like the ape man vs the axe man) but I think it is grey.
Hannah's gift doesn't discriminate between the black and the white, although webby is her help in WIW and yellow jacket, she also wakes Wiley in WIW. the LIB and webby are related somehow, suggesting that they are not as separated as perhaps we would think.

Look I don't know why this day is apparently so important... when I asked all I got in response was the rest of the office saying "Aww, Peanuts!" with goofy grins on their face.
Happy Squirrel Appreciation Day from Hatchetfield Town Hall!

A NPMD theory I’ve cobbled together.
One (or more who knows) of the nerds has “the gift” and it activates while Max is terrorizing them, somehow leading to his death, and the HFPD’s involvement. The list of suspects probably means the Chasitys are in some level of proximity.
There’s some plan involved to absolve themselves hatched by communicating with Max from beyond the grave… and the new guidance counselor just happens to have some sort of mysterious black spell book stashed in her desk so…
Tumblr media
The book brings back a spirit… but not Max’s. Maybe it even inhabits his body, that would be fun.
Anyway this is probably wildly off base but I enjoy this premise and I wouldn’t be mad at it being somewhat like this.

The 'tiny town' of Hatchetfield, I was wondering about the population and how they cope with all the deaths - but what actually is the population like?
They have two highschools (TGWDLM) and assuming that is 100 kids per year in each school for ages up to 18, then the child population is 182100 = 3600 children. Assuming the shows are a representative of a family unit, most children only have one parent - making the ratio 1:2 adults:kids, and so the family population is 5400. But this does not include all the adults without children, of which there are many. This means that there is defiantly more than 5000 people. This lines up with the 'thousands of people' we hear come to the Honey festival. However the U.S. defines a small town to be less than 5000 residents, so there seems to be a consradiction already (not including adults without children). And this contradiction can't really be solved, even accounting for a heightened death rate due to all the magical murders, you would need a death rate of at least 8%, 10 times higher than the American average.
It is unlikely the population is as small as we thought.
The one saving grace is that 'it is as big or as small as it needs to be'

I've just re-watched Honey Queen, and the hate for Clivesdale is immense.
A contestant is eliminated from the HQ pageant despite being in Hatchetfield for 10 years for simply being from there; the visceral reaction of the crowd to Zoe saying she hates Clivesdale seems to be verging on a mob.
There is also the references the the Nantucket bridge, always disparagingly, and negatively - and this may be because it is the thing that physically connects them to Clivesdale.
It definitely supports the idea that there is a deeper connection there than simple dislike.

A cool detail I noticed in Black Friday is that Frank Pricely (what a name and owner of toyzone) is singing Hark the herald when he gets the wiggly dolls.
'Hark the herald angels sing / Glory to the new born king'
Wiggly is King (but duck is lord)

Linda Monroe has the gift (theory)
spoilers for Black Friday (BF) and Honey Queen (HQ)
After re-watching BF I noticed that Wilbur/Wiley says that Linda was chosen long ago to be the prophet of wiggly and also that she quite easily uses psychic manipulation of those under Wiggly's control (similar to Perky's buds and TGWDLM) (obviously it could just be wiggly but i think it is deeper)
In HQ she is the one who is fed to nibbly due to her having the 'largest hunger'. However, her father half expected her to get to this point, he wanted to test her to see if she really was his 'little pig'.
In both instances it seems she was pre-chosen as a candidate for the coming of a Lord in black to enter their world. Regardless of universe she is a figure in bringing peoples demise closer. She has something that we know the LiB can control and use - psychic energy, and the primary driver of having this - the gift.
It would explain how she could use those under wiggly' control to her advantage in BF, and why her father (who may have himself, or Linda's mother may have had the gift) predicted her rise to HQ status.
She is like willabella, a witch who associates with the LiB.

spoilers for Black Friday (BF) and Jane's a car (JAC)
I don't know if this has been theorised specifically but we hear in BF that wiggly has a birthday come up, and also that jane died almost a year ago.
Theories have been put forward that the multiverse started when Jane died, but there are also those that suggest the portal opening, and Jenny's death in Time Bastard, However regardless, Janes death and Wiggly's birthday are very close together.
I need to re-watch JAC but I do know she was listening to the black book and that's what causes JAC, however what if it also caused tom to not see the other car - what if it caused the crash. We know from Killer track what certain types of audio can do, so perhaps that is it.
'Correlation doesn't imply causation, but it does waggle its eyebrows suggestively and gesture furtively while mouthing "look over there."' (XKCD)

Some thoughts on a collective consciousness and Peanuts (spoilers for NMT 1 and 2)
The Night-hawks in Perky's buds (PB) gain psychic powers from eating weed that was grown in dirt that used to be in the witchwood.
In both Ape-man (AM) and Abstinence camp (AC) we see how the wood shapes people who live within it.
From the Witch in the Web (WITW) we know that the wood was planted around a witch and subsequent people with 'the gift' are planted to become trees (PB).
Peanuts presumably eats nuts from the witchwood, just like in PB he gains consciousness can talk etc (see the song at the end of Time Bastard), but he also lives in the wood, and so is a child of it. So like in AM and AC, he becomes a vessel for the message of the wood.
In Yellow jacket the contestants are given a drink with 'vitamins and nutrients' to help with their psychic power. I hypothesis that it is similar to the weed in PB.
Finally (this is a stretch) there is a low level psychic field emanating from the witchwood causing (like with the nighthawks) a weak collective consciousness that causes everyone to hate Clivesdale.
This would also explain why Hatchetfield is targeted by Pokey in TGWDLM and in general why there are so many catastrophes - 'the gift' has been concentrated into the island causing a psychic opening.
