My Darling Doune,

There is not a minute of every day that I don’t think of you. Your kindness and consideration to me in particular will never be forgotten, but the memories are so good they shall never fade and we all share many laughs about the good times. I think of Doune often and have lots of great memories. As teenagers we used to climb up onto my roof and smoke tea in a pipe, we were besotted by Omar Sharif after seeing Doctor Zhivago and loved watching Gidget movies. I know she would love my collection of Lisa Eldridge lipsticks and my favourite op shop party dresses.

We had a walk at Organ Pipes today. Unfortunately it wasn’t the quiet reflection time I was looking forward to as most of north west Melbourne was there. It was nice though to think of Doune there.

Julia and I enjoyed a rather windy but pleasant walk this morning at our local beach suburb, Maloney's Beach. It's always quiet there and they have a number of large mobs of kangaroos so it is a rather special place.

Today was quite special to us as well. Our walk was my first long walk away from the house since having cardiac bypass surgery last Monday week (11 May). Julia and Mark

~ How can we ever forget you Doune - our daughter in law and in fact our second ever much loved daughter - your spirit - your generosity - your loyalty and your caring for your friends as well as family - your wide interests in and love of so much that life offers, though not yours to enjoy for as many years as you deserved.

You were Doune, and continue to be, a tremendous role model for your daughter - so much so that she in her turn is in so many important ways an excellent role model for her younger cousins.

Though our lives go on without you, and we adjust to that unfortunate reality, we will always love you Doune, and continue to enjoy so many wonderful memories of what we experienced together.
