On Wednesday March 19th, 2014 Cooking Channel's own Baron Ambrosia hosted the First Annual Hunt's Point Slam Bake cooking competition at The Hunts Point Bank Note Building, which featured a presentation of dishes, public tasting, judging, and a Rebuild By Design meeting that discussed plans for new infrastructure to protect hunts point from the next superstorm. We had a delicious time.

The New York Urban League Young Professionals (NYULYP) hosted the annual State of Young Black New York last Saturday with New York University's Wagner Mosaic at the Research Center for Leadership in Action at NYU Wagner.

This year's theme was "Policy in Black America: From a Moment to a Movement," focusing on how past and present "moments" serve as a catalyst for "movements" that impact the lives of young Black New Yorkers and Americans in general.

The event brought out dozens of young professionals from across the area in various arenas. The one-day program included discussions on civil rights and public policy along with symposiums on education, social justice and politics.

Speakers at the event included Arva Rice, president and CEO of the New York Urban League; Brooklyn Council Member Jumaane Williams; the Rev. Michael Walrond of the First Corinthian Baptist Church; and Janaye Ingram, the newly-installed executive director of the National Action Network.
