i often feel like one of the only? pnf fans who doesnt take seriously the idea that doof has titanium prosthetic arms and i'm frequently going off on a big tangent in it in my private notes. but it never really reaches the tipping point where i'm like "these are great thoughts worth posting" because its all a bunch of "well here's how jokes work in a cartoon" and nobody needs to get lectured about that

ig the crux of it is pnf is this funny breed of cartoon that is deliberately nonsensical and wacky but also takes its internal cartoon lore seriously, like, half the time. and you can't predict when. you can't predict when a throwaway line about buford's molds will become a tenet of his character, or that a terrible orange kicking window is now a permanent fixture in doof's apartment. so something like doof having metal arms is a one-off joke that COULD come back. it hasn't, and it's been contradicted like a dozen times and that's what my brain snags on personally, i'm like "ok that makes no sense because he has the ability to clone/reconstitue his bodyparts so easily and we see him getting bones broken and set, we see him in pain, see his skin welling up from beestings or shriveling from dehydration" which is where my brain falls in the cartoon autism pit from which theres no escape. pnf is the perfect cartoon autism pit. everyone chooses different things in the show that they wanna treat seriously, whether it's candace's compulsions or buford's queerness or carl not having nostrils and the ways in which this impacts his daily life. but it's jarring when it feels like a majority of the fandom has cemented a detail of the show as Hard Fanon, which is the case with doof having prosthetics. meanwhile i'm into other popular ideas like perry adopting ASL. we all take different gags from the joke buffet pnf provides and refine them into dinners. forgot the point i was making

Can you tell me more about your polyship with Doof, Max and Charlene? Their dynamic for example. And how did they meet? Any of them weren't worried about the poly relationship at first? Did Charlene and Doof got divorced before meeting Max, or not?

i don't really have anything established yet but... i imagine their relationship starting out with doof and charlene trading off max every so often. max will stay at doof's place for a while, then stay at charlene's place for a while. over time though, they start hanging out together as a throuple.

max first met charlene when he and doof ran into her coincidentally one day, and they all talked for a while, which led to max catching feelings. it took some time and more chance meetings between them before max said anything about these feelings to doof. at first doof shrugged it off, but when max kept talking about her, doof said he should try asking charlene out if he was serious. doof was sort of joking in a "that'll never happen" way but max did end up asking her out. and when charlene actually accepted, doof was like "wow i didn't think that would work but...okay. report back on how that goes."

doof was conflicted about the whole thing at first, but he and max had a long talk about it. max made it clear he wasn't leaving doof for charlene as he liked them both, and that he liked the idea of them all being together. secretly, doof still had feelings for charlene himself, and so he agreed with that idea, if charlene would ever decide to take him back. yes they are divorced, but i think their relationship could be rekindled, with max in the middle of course.

there's a lot to this i haven't thought through yet, but that's what i'm working with right now.
