Amber Nicole Thurman was an otherwise-healthy 28 year-old black mother who was denied emergency care. She had rotting fetal tissue inside of her body and needed a D&C to clear it out, which her state (Georgia) outlawed. The infection from the tissue killed her. The doctors waited until it was too late to perform the procedure out of fear of prosecution.

Georgia has a 6-week abortion ban. Similar bans have spread across the country after the 6-3 conservative Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. Donald Trump appointed half of those conservative judges and was recently bragging about killing Roe. Republicans want to ban abortion nationally.

Amber Nicole Thurman is dead as a direct result of Trump’s election and stacking of the Court. That is why we’ll never let go of 2016, because you all screamed at us for “scaremongering” when we warned this exact situation would happen.
