All this discourse over who does "painting with light"
Hiroshi Nagai's paintings need sunglasses to look at.
Tumblr media
They look like how it feels to walk across a parking lot on a 98° summer day without a speck of shade in sight.
Tumblr media
They look like heaven but also like you'd burn your bare feet on the ground.
Tumblr media
Even when you can see shade you know it's not enough and the minute you step out you'll be burnt to a crisp like a vampire.
Tumblr media
And it's BEAUTIFUL

Left: the Pale Piranha from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Interestingly, it is only known as "Pale Piranha" in the English translation; in the original Japanese and all other versions, this enemy is simply known as "Piranha Plant". (The "Piranha Plant" enemy in the Pit of 100 Trials is, conversely, named "Killer Piranha" instead.)
Right: the Pale Piranha has internally a 110% susceptibility to the Sleep status effect (treated as 100% in-game), which may be a reference to the sleeping Piranha Plants from Super Mario 64, especially given how they are apparently supposed to be regular Piranha Plants and not a different species.

I think we need one of those popular read-along blogs to tackle The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the same way that's been done for Dracula and Moby-Dick. The number of folks around here who appear to be under the impression that reading a queer subtext into Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a subversion rather than being straightforwardly material to the plot is frankly embarrassing, and I'm assuming this is because nobody's actually read the damn thing.

what people flagrantly misunderstand about culturally iconic ‘logicians’ like spock and sherlock holmes is that they are fuckinggggg annoying. like you canNOT write for nor adapt either of these characters properly without understanding that they are admirable in many ways, yes, but they are repeatedly and gleefully, ON PURPOSE, fucking massive nuisances to literally every sane individual around them, all the time. they love bothering people, they LOVE it, it makes them SO HAPPY, and THAT, not their brilliance, is what makes them the best. spocks a BITCH
