Starts the campaign on the run from the law because he stole a guard captains special (magical) helmet. But he doesn't know anything about that, he just thinks it looks nice.

I had a very similar problem when I ran a game, in that the players all noticed that most of the characters were women.
Luckily they didn't assume there was any plot reason for it. They just assumed it was because I'm gay and ladies were pretty.

Yeah, you're almost certainly right about the website. Never trust anything that looks that good going for less than $50.
I have gone onto Etsy and there are some great options on there and supporting small creators is something I try to do when I can. At the moment I'm looking at a little acorn shaped bag on there and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's like $70, so I'm gonna have to save up for it, but it would go so cutely with a fairy cosplay. <3
