Hi I’m a newly discovered system and its been causing me a little stress that I (the host?) don’t experience blackouts or full amnesia, but then I read some of your old posts about feeling like everything’s in grayscale and emotional amnesia and was like “:0 that’s like me!”

I was wondering if you would be okay describing what it feels like when someone else fronts? That’s something I’m trying figure out for myself and maybe hearing other people’s experiences would help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Also all the comics are amazing keep up the good work 👍)

so the uhhh. so the person fronting never really feels like they "disappear" or get pushed away it just feels like they Change Into A Different Person . but we still Exist while not fronting but nobody remembers what that's like because w. yeah no i don't get the technicalities of how this works i'm not worrying about it too hard

i highly encourage plurals to just make up their own words for things. we didnt like how binary(?) the "fully formed alter vs fragment" thing felt, so we just borrowed terms from a game we like to explain 4 levels of alter elaboration. you dont have to use commonly known terms. if you dont like them you can make shit up. its just words your using to describe yourself.

Is it a headmate? Is it a fragment? Is it a facet? Is it a persona? Am I subconsciously masking? Am I subconsciously/involuntarily otherlinking/copinglinking? Is it a kinshift? Is it a ’flicker? Is it age regression? Is it a mood? Is it impulsivity? Is it an intrusive thought that I’m reacting to? Is it genderfluidity? Is it pronoun/namefluidity?

Who knows! Who cares! I don’t need to stress about this, it doesn’t matter! It’s a mode that the “I” is in, the way I feel in that moment! And I will make a pluralkit/tupperbox for it so I can express myself and decide the rest later! Or never! These labels are a construct! Personhood itself is a construct! I don’t need to box myselves! I can just live!

Always funky how some system members can take days and days to form, and even then still not be fully solid, but others will snap into place almost instantly. Not even different origins either, both traumagenic - it's interesting to observe the variation even within a singular system

willomancy tip: one way to help ensure your headmate won't fade away is to solidly connect them to the world outside your mind and have them be confident in it.

you may need to act like a cheerleader, and that is perfectly fine. but yes, having your created headmate have at least one solid external attachment can be very helpful in preventing fading! that's our recipe for success. well, one part of it.
