Like I get the point was "being close to Jesus gives you comfort in dark times" but the way he worded that made it seem like a consequence for falling away.

Interesting how the first real decision Adam made in the Bible was to put his love and desire to be with his partner over his ability to be with God.

And then people in the church are surprised when they tell people those are the options and people choose love.

I've had numerous callings in both primary and nursery, and I was pretty good at them, if I may say so myself. I'm still the same person I was when I had those callings, albeit older and wiser. Changing my name and the way I dress for church didn't suddenly make me a danger to children.

If gender is eternal, like the family proc says, than it exists beyond the scope of physical reproduction. Otherwise it would be useless in the times in our lives when we are not able to reproduce. Gender would be irrelevant for the young, the old, the singles, the infertile, those who intend to marry and are currently keeping the law of chastity, etc.

If gender is eternal then we had it in the pre-existance and it is a part of our spirit, not our body. Our bodies don't always match our spirits, as any bald man will likely agree. Gender cannot be determined merely by physical metrics.

If gender is eternal, then it is like other eternal things. We know it's not eternally bad like eternal misery, eternal damnation, eternal stagnation. Eternally bad things are static and unchanging. Gender is eternally good, like eternal growth, eternal happiness, eternal progress. All eternally good things are in a state of growth, change, and expansion.

Therefore our current understandings of gender are most likely inaccurate in the long term and based on temporary mortal circumstances that will soon pass.

Unlike those who are, ironically, most likely to quote the Family Proclamation, I choose to actually take it seriously when it says "Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose."

Perhaps I was gifted my self awareness with the knowledge that I wouldn't be easily connected to the Spirit. Perhaps my ability to know myself and see the patterns in other people was God's way of keeping me safe without the easy connection that so many others seem to have.

some people would expect me to leave the church over the things i disagree with. nope, those guys are stuck with me. they aren't my problem, i'm their problem. yes, i disagree with leadership. no, i'm not leaving. they'll have to excommunicate me for heresy first 😘

Regardless of whatever Jesus's sexuality was, I feel like the fact that he suffered every pain and affliction- including the longing for another man, the dysphoria of having no tits, and the isolation of a society focused on sex- sort of qualifies him as the ultimate honorary queer.
