Current knitting projects!
I started knitting in December, and like most knitters jumped straight into a scarf (knit stitch all the way). I started making my own scarf first so that when I made my grandma‘s as her Christmas gift, I wouldn’t mess it up a bunch (her scarf is done and at home and I took no pictures).
I am currently moving between working on my scarf and a scarf for my dad that matches his company colors!
My scarf is the purple one, it’s knit stitch the entire way.I’m thinking of frogging the entire thing and making it a knit/purl like my dads.
Obviously, my dads is the blue scarf, i’m using a knit 1 purl 1 pattern (it’s short because I restarted it 20 times yesterday after accidentally adding a few stitches in a few rows on accident).

The Picture of Dorian Gray
Tonight I cleaned my room, lit a wood wick candle, turned on harp, flute, and violin music, then read The Picture of Dorian Gray for a few hours. I believe I started somewhere in chapter 2 and decided to stop before starting chapter six for the night.
It’s really interesting to see Dorian’s character shift so drastically at such a rapid rate, in just a month he is a completely different person. I can’t tell if I like it yet because he is feeling like a childish version of Lord Henry, an almost sad impersonation one could say. I think the first change I noticed within him was how the narrator and other characters described his eyes. It was then his attitude that changed, a rather pessimistic person [before he met Sibyl, but then just insane].
Lord Henry, on the other hand, has been as witty and pleasant as usually. However, I believe the way he has started and will continue to analyze Dorian’s infatuation with Sibyl, is showing a rather sinister, or perhaps just raw vulgar side of his personality we haven’t seen before. Lord Henry and Dorian’s relationship is so odd. I explained it to my friend as the following “but it’s not actually gay, it’s a weird sexual tension through intellectual lust/opening each others views of the world”, enough said.
I really really really appreciate how Oscar Wilde makes slight tweaks in characters personalities or actions that reflect past conversations and interactions with other characters. Not only that, but when the chapter is being told from the pov of one character, such as Dorian when he is waiting in Lord Henry’s tiny library, and Lord Henry is 1) late, and 2) brings up an intriguing excuse, it references an earlier conversation and situation from the book. This being Lord Henry walking to his Aunt Agatha’s house and arriving late to lunch, because he walked far past her house while deep in thought. In a conversation he had also mentioned in he would cancel dinner with an old friend with an intriguing matters/urgent excuse as it would be more interesting and or believable/excusable I believe.
Anyways, i’m tired, and I will admit this is a rather harsh review on the book and Dorian for how much I actually really like it.
