“Me??? Oh gosh, I’m fine, I was being a complete ditz, gosh, I am so sorry.”

Jay takes his books from her, and he steps back to give her space. His eyes dart to the bruises, and he looks into her eyes for a split second. Jay clears his throat, and gives a sheepish grin.

“I’m Jay. Jay Acosta. Again, sorry for running into you.”

“I’m fine, I’m fine,” she said hurriedly, standing up and picking up her things. There were bruises covering here, a couple visible, but none of them were from the boy in front of her. “Uh… oh gosh you dropped your stuff.” In a moment she had gathered all of it, handing it to him. “Are you okay?”

“Sad? Oh, uh. I mean, it might depend on what kind of sadness it was, but as a general rule of thumb, I think that... No matter how sad you are, there’s always gonna be somebody who’s there by your side, who cares about you. Maybe they don’t know what you’re going through, but they want to support you. And you should, uh, probably let them. That’s what I’d say to someone who’s sad.”

The words cut like knives into Jet Star’s skin, and he lifts his head up to look at the walking, talking corpse that once was Party Poison. Jet regards him with disdain; The man that he once saw as a vigilante, as a hero, as his best friend and-- He sneers, never once breaking his gaze.

Jet Star spits at the Exterminator’s feet.

“Fuck you.”

Blood falls from his mouth and he holds back a groan of pain. At least three of his ribs are broken. His nose is fucked for sure, and there’s no telling what kind of internal bleeding he’s going through. But he won’t give in. Won’t beg. Won’t submit. Jet Star shifts his wrists against the handcuffs behind his back. He gives a bloody smirk.

“ ‘Cause ya know what, Party? You don’t want to kill me. Matter of fact, I don’t think you’re allowed to kill me.”

He spits again, mercury-tinted blood staining his teeth and now the floor. Jet Star continues.

“You wanna scare me. ‘Cause you need me for shit you don’t know- Shit they took from you.”

And he grits his teeth at that, the words bitter. They did unspeakable things to Party, and now he’s at a point where he’d beat Jet within an inch of his life without a bat of a lash. It’s fucked up just how good BL/ind is at breaking people down.

Thankfully, Jet Star is more stubborn than the rest. 

He takes a steadying breath and shakes his head, forcing himself to laugh, to seem at ease. Jet leans against the wall of his cell, casually looking the Better Living agent up and down, tearing him apart with his gaze. His smirk and gaze go dark.

“Beat me all you want, Party Poison. But you ain’t gettin’ shit from me.”

He isn’t used to how big he is. Really, he isn’t. So when Jay runs into a tiny girl in the halls, the laws of physics dictate that she goes down. Jay’s eyes widen, and he goes to help her up, not even worrying about all his books and journals that he had dropped.

“Oh gosh, I’m so sorry, are you alright?”
