So, a few things to note about a certain design. 

Purple is strongly coded as supernatural, even though it’s used to signify ‘lies’ in this game. Notably, not only Kokichi’s eyes are purple, but his hair is tinged with the same highlight.

More to that, there’s this emblem: a spear, a shield, and snake tongues. A reference to a certain seer, who had prophecies whispered to her by snakes.

Interestingly enough, the buttons Kokichi has visible on his front are faintly mixed in colour, with the ones behind his scarf being plain. 

But hidden behind him..

..there’s a pair of striking, purple buttons.

And speaking of a ‘hidden message’?
